Re: Porting Android

i admire you guys for making this work. too bad you didn't have all the closed drivers and blobs needed, otherwise this would rock. it's also nice to see foundation picked up this topic and decided to go for supported android distro. i tested images, of course they are slow-ish, but you made it happ...

i expected it to be slower, but not that slow. can we arrange some example db dump and test script to share? I'd like to try that on my machine too.

btw, how did you install php-fcgi?

Re: A word of warning on using cheap Micro USB cables.

yeah, some cheap ebay cables are really bad quality. bough 5 microusb cables for my smartphone and it wouldn't charge properly overnight. If i am using and charging at the same time, phone would pop up message saying that current is too low to charge. then i spent 5$ at local store and bought cable ...

Re: Pi as a webserver

that's just what I did next day I got it :)

I went with nginx because it's faster with smaller footprint. last night tried to compile php-fpm, but no dice. because I like playing with it, max uptime is only 3 days so far and I plan doing something on weekend again.

Re: Booting from the SD card, but using a USB stick to run t

i am not sure about flash read/write comparison to sd card, i am using 2.5" external hdd. and this hasn't failed for me all those reboots so far. just remember, if you use external drive, feed it with proper mAmps. I use externally powered (active) usb hub for that. you should mount flash drive some...

Re: OpenELEC meets Raspberry Pi - part 1 (XBMC)

I was impressed that everything indeed works. i messed up with screen calibrations, but other than that - it rocks. even 1080p mkv runs smooth. menus have hickups, but i can live with that. i was browsing hard trough pages to find out how to install it. once I found it, it was really simple. You sho...

Re: Booting from the SD card, but using a USB stick to run t

solution works for me too. this means I can get SD card as small as 128M and it doesn't matter how fast it is - the rest goes on external (usb) drive with 6x faster read/write times.

Re: IPv6 in the bcmrpi kernel patches (and Debian/Arch distr

i second this. amongst all bytes that are included on distro, ipv6 is one of core features that has to be there. even if it's compiled as module. we have to do those router double-configurations just because people still stick to ipv4.
