Re: Edimax EW-7811Un and Jessie: Problems!

Thanks. How do you connect to your WPA2 wifi network? Do you use wpa_supplicant with manual configuration or something like wicd-curses? just put in my SSID and PSK in the /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf file (per screenshot above). That's it. BTW - this is on a Model A, which shouldn't rea...

Re: Edimax EW-7811Un and Jessie: Problems!

Hmm....then something is strange since I didn't have to do that step. I also have WPA2 with PSK. I also started with that Jessie Lite version and also did the dist-upgrade. Well, guess both methods are working....folks can determine what procedures they want to try. Are you also using the EW-7811Un...

Re: Edimax EW-7811Un and Jessie: Problems!

Which Jessie version did you use? Did you update as I think a patch was added. I think what you did is to just force nl80211, I don't believe it is required to make this adapter work with an updated Jessie. Yes, that is what I do and that is exactly what made the adapter work for me. With wext my a...

If you already did this step: (...) The fix for this seems to be this: (...) This just helps to configure the wifi network with wpa_supplicant and disables power management for the 7811Un - I already did both. However, it did not help with my problem at all. Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I've started up a wiki page on eLinux.org as a possible place to store all the useful bits of code and information found in this thread so that anyone can create an account and add content. Given that there's so much good stuff in here it would take ages to read up on 15 posts to find it so if you ...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I had suggested earlier to just use the built-in HTTP server in PHP and not bother with Apache or NGINX as you need PHP anyway. The PHP version used here already have it built in and to me performs much better than Apache.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Ok so a question from a relative n00b. With the RPi Cam Web Interface running on the Pi, would it be possible to have another linux machine do the motion detection? Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

For the gray block issue, did anyone try providing the netcam_url with the http protocol to the JPG image instead of the file protocol? I believe the web server should be able to provide a true complete JPG or MJPEG stream that meets the motion requirements.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Hi Silvan, Glad to see motion included now. Can you explain a bit how motion is used vs. the live view. If I understand correctly, Live view is MJPEG you did with RaspiMJPEG and motion is being done natively with motion-mmal and both are using the H.264 preview? Also, not sure if you already knew, b...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

First of all, thanks a lot for your testings! I found a memory leak in my code (I used asprintf without free) and fixed it and I'm running a long-time test now. The new software is already online, if you want to update your RPi just go through the steps in my first post as usual. Additionally I add...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Silvan, I know this is based on the RaspiMJPEG work you did earlier. However, is there an option you can put in to pass the H.264 (box with MP4) preview instead of the MJPEG. Since I plan to use this on some surveillance cameras which will have WiFi, I need to conserve the bandwidth as even with a h...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Thanks, the CPU is significantly less now with the update. Question: Is there any queuing between the live-view write to shared-memory and the GET that reads it? If not, I believe one reason for the choppyness and momentary freezes may be deadlock occurring between writes and reads. If this is the c...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

Can someone confirm if there're getting momentarily freeze when constant motion is occuring in front of the camera from the web page view? Wondering if this is related to MJPEG generation, network or browser rendering and how those can be improved to get smooth rendering.
