Re: Tutorial: Compile VLC with HW acceleration - Stretch, RPi 2/3

After increasing GPU memory to 512Mb, I am now able to play .MP4 videos of full HD resolution and framerate 25fps. But there is still issue with playing .MKV files as shown in the picture below. How can I fix it? Should I increase GPU memory more than 512Mb? https://thumb.ibb.co/hdeZW9/IMG-20181013...

Re: Real Time Transcoding of DVB TV Streams

I don't know if this is an off topic question, but does anybody know if this can be used with MagicMirror? :? I am planning to build a smart mirror for the bathroom and I would love to add also a TV window in it streaming from my Linux based decoder (Vu+ Duo 2). You won't need it. If the smart mirr...

Re: Youtube video on full screen LAGS :(

I wonder will other OS prevent this problem such as the small Ubuntu variations. Will using a browser there prevent this or is this just the way PI does things whatever the OS. Chromium with HW acceleration support for video is unique on Raspbian (a special creation by the Foundation). There are si...

OK.
The error message means that the gstreamer tool chain throws an error. To get more information use
export GST_DEBUG=1
and then run your rstranscode command line.
Post the result here.

Re: Real Time Transcoding of DVB TV Streams

Hi, I am testing this out on a RPi3b+ with Raspbian Stretch and a multicast udp stream coming directly out of an HDHomerun tuner. So far omxplayer sees and plays the streams but rtranscode is not having any luck. output from omxplayer [email protected]:~ $ omxplayer -i udp://@239.255.1.18:59004 [mpeg...

Re: Worst web surfing experience with Strecht

Hi. I am very dissapointed because my use of the Raspberry is as a normal PC, for surfing, facebook and music. And all that was a very good experience with the Raspbian Jesse, but I am having a lot of problems with the Strecht version when its time to web surf. I tried to change the CHROMIUM for th...

Re: Tutorial: Compile VLC with HW acceleration - Stretch, RPi 2/3

Hi all, I am just a newbie with Raspberry. I've just compiled VLC on my Raspberry Pi 3B+ following the tutorial in page 1. Unfortunately all the fullHD videos I use to test are still broken in VLC. Is there any advice for me to fix it please? Thanks a lot. What does "broken" mean? Do other (not ful...

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

I am trying to display web pages with animated controls such as meters, strip charts, etc. The pages display in the browser, but without these controls. Are there settings that I need to adjust to see such controls or is Kweb not able to display them? An example is found at https://developers.googl...

Re: Newest Kernel and / or Chromium broken

ShiftPlusOne has explained it very well. And the process of copying and colour space conversion has never completely worked for full screen on a 1080p screen. It works in a way, but you will have quite a lot of lost frames. It's easy to see when the camera zooms into a complex scene or shifts across...

Hey! Good so far. Now I understand. It works! I can make volume go down one step at time. (need to figure out how I script it to do command multiple times so volume hits bottom and goes back to 0dB). As I understand these command works as a root commands in background. I manage control this through...

Latest omxplayer builds

Recently the omxplayer sources by popcornmix got some nice new additions, which I plan to use in the next releases of my kweb suite (omxplayerGUI and ytdl-server) for Raspbian Stretch and Jessie. Two new dbus commands (SetLayer and OpenUri) allow to modify the video layer and the video source at run...

Re: How to mute sounds on OMXPlayer

You could send dbus commands to omxplayer (volume). The easiest way to do this it to use the dbuscontrol.sh script from github.

... If you want faster graphics it is better to use 16bit R5G6B5 (AKA Microsoft 256k colour) instead of 24bit R8G8B8 as it uses only 2/3 of the data and still gives you 256k of colour which is more colours than the human eye can tell the difference between. Re: youtube-dl

Thank you. So if I load a standard Rasbian OS for example, should pip already be on there? Should I be able to just run syntax: sudo -H pip install --upgrade youtube-dl AFAIK, pip is part of a full Raspbian installation. You should install youtube-dl system wide with: sudo pip install youtube-dl (n...

Re: youtube-dl

So is the pip youtube-dl python based? because the stand-alone one if i'm not mistaken isn't right? No, youtube-dl is written in Python. The "fake binary" contains all the (1000+) modules zipped into a single file. They are not "precompiled" to pyc files (so they are platform independent) which res...

I would recommend using the pip install method. youtube-dl starts about 4-5 seconds faster compared to the fake binary which you can download from the youtube-dl website. To update it, you can run the install command again with an additional "--upgrade". For you purpose a Raspbian Light installatio...
