Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

hello is it possible to use omxplayergui with multicast udp streaming? I have potentially 100's of clients that I would like to stream to and multicasting is probably the best way (no DVR or such is needed) I would want to play the streaming using chromium with http://localhost:9192/play in iframe ...

Re: [Guide][Testing] Kodi 18.0 Leia beta versions now available for Raspbian Stretch!

Thanks, Rascas!

And this also answers my question I wanted to ask: Will there be a Kodi 18 version for Raspbian (Stretch), as soon as the final version is ready?

Re: Tutorial: Compile VLC with HW acceleration - Jessie, RPi 2/3

Did you run a
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
before you tried to install the packages?
Are you really running Jessie? There is a separate thread about a Stretch installation.

Perhaps Kaffein is blocking it in the background (or tvheadend). Only one client can access the DVB-dongle at a time.

Re: Video performance

You need a hardware accelerated player: omxplayer (and possibly my omxplayerGUI), kodi or specially compiled versions of VLC or MPV/FFMEG with hardware acceleration (video decoding by the CPU). For TV you need some kind of server backend like GnuTV, mumudvb, vdr or tvheadend. Once you get it running...

Re: Will people please think about low res displays?

Yes you can drag windows around, that is known. Though it is an extra pain to have to repeatedly drag a window up and down while changing settings, or working on some project or another using some application that does not vertically fit. It is true that a lot of this is from legacy, as many of the...

Thanks! So, upon further testing in which my brother increased the elevation of the antenna on his end, I am able to revert to TVHeadEnd to stream/view a raw MPEG2 1080x720 stream (including audio) over the internet with no issues, so what I thought was a processing issue must have been a signal st...

fruitoftheloom is right: flash support in webkit browsers requires a special wrapper, which only works inside a GTK+2 GUI interface. kweb on Stretch is built with GTK+3.

Re: Bad support for flash codec and general KODI issues (unusable browser video playback)

VLC includes support for hardware acceleration on the Pi, and I assume it is enabled in Raspbian. It's also being worked on at the moment to try and make it better (comparable to Chromium which already has a load of tweaks). ... No, omx and mmal are not enabled in the repository version. Re: Bad support for flash codec and general KODI issues (unusable browser video playback)

Writing web scrapers and keeping them up to date is a really painful job, as any web page may change its design any time without notice. So it doesn't surprise me that many "Mediathek" kodi-addons often don't work any more after a while. The best plugin for German (and perhaps Austrian) web TV is Me...

Re: SOLVED: Chrome using too much memory, help!

Browsers may be better or worse in memory management, but the real culprits are the web designers. There must be some new paradigm like "if my website uses less than 100 MB it's not modern web design".

Re: Swap memory getting full after a few days.

Swapping is always slow on the RPi and should be avoided as much as possible. That's just not been my experience. For me, setting up swap has been a lifesaver. Face it, you're in the position of defending a "conventional wisdom" - which, like many CWs, just ain't true. That's not what I said (I'm u...

Re: Swap memory getting full after a few days.

Swapping is always slow on the RPi and should be avoided as much as possible. One way to do this is to set swappiness to a low value (1 is recommended). In a terminal run sudo sysctl vm.swappiness=1 or add sysctl vm.swappiness=1 to /etc/rc.local to set it at boot time. Now the system will only start...

Re: GIANT UPDATE: Build FFmpeg and mpv – Automatically in 54 Minutes!

In my testing, it usually took about 10 seconds from the moment I entered the following command lines until the live TV broadcasts appeared (youtube-dl has to first analyze the stream before it hands it off to mpv, which then buffers and plays it). You still have not realized that youtube-dl (for e...
