I have tried to run the kwebfix patch to allow the Minimal Kiosk Browser to use VLC from inside a terminal and from inside the kweb installation directory. Re: Mouse Lag Still An Issue?

Mouse poll frequency has been reduced to 60 HZ. Some (usually wireless) keyboard/mouse combos can't handle that At 60 Hz it is still only 16 ms latency. I'm not an athlete and probably wouldn't notice double that. Still seems like something else is going on. What do you mean by "can't handle that"....

Mouse poll frequency has been reduced to 60 HZ. Some (usually wireless) keyboard/mouse combos can't handle that and so the mouse poll option has been added.

Re: VLC 3.0 with hardware acceleration

For the sake of comparison, with former gkreidl's version (rendering fullscreen through "OpenMAX IL video output"), VLC can reproduce a DVD folder structure and its main title without stutter (no GPU codec, software decode?), and CPU load stays < 10%. I need to re-test with the new repositories ver...

Re: VLC 3.0 with hardware acceleration

1080p60 runs fine if you enhance the GPU (or H264) clock. I believe this is done automatically in omxplayer. I've always set the GPU clock to 500MHz in all my systems.

Re: Early Use Of The TV Hat And VLC

I am still experimenting with the TV Hat. In my first post I mentioned how to run live TV stations. A file is saved in the Downloads section of the /home/pi/ directory. If you open up that file with the Text Editor, you are given a URL address in EXTMU format. This means that you should be able to ...

Re: Raspberry Pi TV Hat DVB-T2 Gateway (Tvheadend with FFmpeg and realtime hardware video stream transcoding)

My rtranscode V4 package offers a complete transcoding solution which works with different backends on both Jessie and Stretch. Transcoding on Jessie is more efficient though because the gst-omx module has implemented hardware scaling, which is missing in the Stretch version. https://www.raspberrypi...

Hi John, if you install the latest hotfix to my kweb suite you can use the youtube-dl-server to control VLC, just like the web interface of omxplayerGUI. Re: VLC 3.0 with hardware acceleration

The audio delay problem could be solved!

It only appeared, when I accessed audio files from a locally mounted samba share (all my audio files are on this share!). It did not happen with local audio files.

Solution: added "vers=1.0" to the mount commands of all my samba shares.

Answering some questions from another thread

I have tested a lot today and it really works well for video. Re: Real Time Transcoding of DVB TV Streams

Hello Gkreidl, is it possible to set the Output to interlaced and no deinterlaced? No, the ouput is always progressive. For SD streams you can use doubled deinterlacing, which turns transforms a 576i50 into 576p50, using both half pictures of the interlaced original in turn. It's not possible for i...

Did you reboot?
Check the file with mediainfo to get the codec being used.

maybe is ffmpeg too old or someyhing did not enabled?
in Alarm ffmpeg-mmal & mpv-rpi can play without start_file=start_x.elf fixup_file=fixup_x.dat.
Software codec, I suppose.

Check the codec being used. VP8 should be supported if you have enabled the additional codecs, but not VP9 AFAIK.

VLC 3.0 with hardware acceleration

VLC has always been my favourite media player on all kinds of operating systems (Windows, Linux, even Android, which I don't use any more). It has always been on Raspbian, but without hardware accleration it was useless for video. 5 years ago I started to compile my own versions with hardware accler...
