No idea. I'm not one of the authors, I just compiled and packaged it for the RPi.

Re: Kweb Suite (Minimal Kiosk Browser, omxplayerGUI)

On Jessie (and Wheezy) there was a but difference in both webkit engines: The GTK+2 one used the default version from Raspbian. The GTK+3 version was newer and contained a lot of patches for the RPi (GPU support, JIT JS compiler). On Stretch there is no real difference. Both are default versions fro...

Re: Real Time Transcoding of DVB TV Streams

1. The current version of rtranscode doesn't run on Raspbian Stretch. rtranscode 4.0 is in development (and beta testing) and will replace it in a few weeks. It will run on both Jessie and Stretch. 2. rtranscode does support http and udp streams, but no rtsp (but this may change in the future). You ...

Re: rtranscode 4.0 - Current state of development

Unfortunately those patches never made it into the upstream gstreamer development and with gstreamer-omx-1.10 software scaling has to be used and this is heavy work for the CPU, especially for HD streams, and limits what can be done. Transcoding will never be as effective on Stretch as it was on Je...

With the GPU running a 500MHz omxplayer can play up to 1080p60. This doesn't work with with VLC. But all of my 1080i50 recorded (or live) TV streams work well with VLC.

Re: Tutorial: Compile VLC with HW acceleration - Stretch, RPi 2/3

Hello, I have a problem. Today I've got my brand new RPi3 and Samsung Evo Plus 64GB microSD card. After installing a fresh Raspbian Stretch on the SD Card I came to that topic and followed all the steps. So far so good. But if I play an example Video which came with Raspbian "/opt/vc/src/hello_pi/h...

Re: Convert movie audio on the fly

Thank you for your answer gkreidl :) Yep, RPi will be connected with HDMI to the TV and I want to stream the video from my NAS (with USB connected to the Router) Is that also possible with omxplayer? Yes. By default omxplayer converts audio to 2 channel PCM. You can also activate passthrough, to se...

I assume you want to play the video using the RPi. omxplayer will convert audio on the fly, if your TV doesn't support a format.

rtranscode 4.0 - Current state of development

rtranscode 4.0 will run on both Jessie and Stretch (and even on Wheezy, I suppose), but there is a huge difference. gstreamer-omx-1.0 for the RPI included a lot of patches (30!), which did not only fix bugs but implemented scaling the decoded image using the GPU (Patches 1, 11 and 14). Unfortunately...

Problem solved. I let it run for about 90 minutes and memory usage didn't grow any more.

Thank you, 6by9!

An updated package for testing is available from gstreamer1.0-omx-rpi_1.10.5-2+rpi+patches_armhf.deb

Please don't PM pings - I'm not here just to support your project. 30 seconds looking at the upstream bugtracker before would have identified the original issue - it's number 2 on their list when sorted in chronological order. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=736829 - last changed 2015-03...

Nginx is good for reverse proxy. I don't thing lighttpd can do that.
Of course it can: https://redmine.lighttpd.net/projects/1 ... s_ModProxy

I'm using it for almost a decade now.

It can't work. Simple mathematics: Multiply width x height x fps x 32 (RGBA to bits) and compare that with the 100 MBit ethernet bandwidth.

Thanks @gkreidl for the detailed tutorial! I had a couple of follow up questions, but first the scenario: I need to run a 1080p (can maybe do 720) full screen on loop for several hours a day. My wife is an artist, and we want the RPi 3 connected to the projector via HDMI for a video installation at...

If your projector can take it (different frame rates and video resolutions), you can use omxplayer with the '-r' option.

Re: Possible to downgrade back to Jessie 8 ?

No, downgrading is not possible. You have to start with a new OS on SD card. But that's really simple: Download the image zip file (don't unzip it). Get Etcher. Insert the SD card. Start Etcher, select the image file, select the SD card and run it. Etcher does a bit by bit comparison after flashing ...

Hi, I would like to boot my RPI3 from a SSD drive via USB because of the better lifespan of a harddisk compared to a SD card. In the moment I'm not sure how to migrate my FHEM software from SD card to a completly new SSD drive. Is it enough to just flash the image (created from the SD card) to the ...

Re: GStreamer and omx encoding from live source.. a naive problem

I'm in the middle of something else at the moment. My friendly Raspbian maintainer has built the modules at https://drive.google.com/file/d/14hpi7RZDL9aKrOZ9KfnHXCcI9Qk6mzuT/view?usp=sharing for testing. When I stuck them on an image it resulted in gst-inspect-1.0 and gst-launch throwing wobblers o...
