Re: PiStack....

Re: PiStack....

Yes, not very stable at all :D Single use - the first 20 are for retail stores as centrally controlled music/advertising players for store audio systems... To be honest I'm amazed at the versatility of these little things, i've made a system with pi's that is $20K a year cheaper than our current sys...

Re: crontable doesn't start fbi

Alex, Mine is like the below. I use @reboot /home/pi/slideshow.sh to start every time, then another that starts at 9AM. You can see in my script if it is before 9am, it just quits, then quits again at 9PM after turning off the monitor. These two lines force my monitor on and in the right mode (by sw...

openweather api

Just a quick one - has anyone done anything with the openweather api? Just trying to see if there is ground covered to save work :D What am I trying to do? I have a 'photo frame' which does a few other things. I would like it to also display current weather every 15 minutes. My concept - - Retreive ...

Re: Store music player

I had not - I will take a look... The only reason I chose what I did is for simplicity - in this case it is fully automated - 3 random songs and a random ad - rinse and repeat..... Though that looks interesting for the home setup (which is currently MPD)

Re: tvservice -p not working correctly on dvi/hdmi

You just need to reset the framebuffer, easiest way is to change the depth to 32 and then back to 16 with fbset -depth 32; fbset -depth 16 Edit: If you're using X then you'll also need to tell X11 to refresh afterwards too so in that case use fbset -depth 32; fbset -depth 16; xrefresh Any program t...

Store music player

Hey all, First major project with the pi is now up and running. I created an empty image that boots to raspbian and runs a script to play music in a bunch of our retail stores (I work in the motorbike retail industry). Our current paid solution costs about $1000 per store per year - this costs a pi ...

tvservice -p not working correctly on dvi/hdmi

Hi all, (I posted this in troubleshooting, but after 3 days and no reply thought I would go for one try here for Graphics). I'm wondering if there is a trick I am missing, or whether this is normal behaviour. In short, I can do tvservice -o - and my monitor goes into standby. If I do tvservice -p th...

Re: Introduce yourself!

Hey all, I'm an IT guy during the day and general geek at night.... I just got my first pi and worked out things for home and work for them... Work I'm going to setup about 20 of them to be in store music players (replacing an expensive custom system). At home i've already setup one sonos style with...

tvservice -p not working correctly on dvi/hdmi

Hi all, I'm wondering if there is a trick I am missing, or whether this is normal behaviour. In short, I can do tvservice -o - and my monitor goes into standby. If I do tvservice -p then (through ssh), the monitor comes back of standby - but there is no picture. On two occasions, a picture did come ...
