Re: Python Help - "trigger" GPIOZERO only at "button push"

Maybe you could use the

Code: Select all

when_released
method. See the documentation here https://gpiozero.readthedocs.io/en/stab ... ar-classes

Keith.

Rainbow boot fail on Pi1 model B

Last night I flashed the November 2018 Raspbian Stretch Lite onto an 8GB SD card using Etcher. I added a ssh file and a wpa_supplicant.conf file to the /boot directory with my wifi settings. I then inserted it into a Pi 1 model B. Booted the Pi headless, ssh’ed in ran a sudo apt-get update and sudo ...

Re: headless wifi setup: easiest approach?

Does anyone have a solution that works with recent Raspbians as above solution does not work anymore? Yes it’s easy now, once you have burnt your new Raspbian image, mount the boot directory on you desktop/laptop and create a wpa_suplicant.conf file with your wifi settings. If you want ash enabled ...

Glad you got it to work. It's a long process and frustrating when it does not work.

Good luck with the rest of the project.

Re: Live streaming bird box with temperature sensor

Thank you so far for your kindness. I will try your code and let you know, how it works. Marian I followed these exact instructions on a fresh install of the March 2017 Raspbian this morning on a Pi Zero W and it worked fine. I did have some trouble yesterday on a Pi 2, but I think it was an issue ...

Re: Live streaming bird box with temperature sensor

Umm, not sure what is going on.

You could try the following in the /usr/src/ffmpeg directory

Code: Select all

git pull
./configure
make
sudo make install
If this does not help, it would be worth trying on a clean fresh install of Raspbian.

Good luck,
Keith.

Re: Live streaming bird box with temperature sensor

Hi there, sorry it's not working. It's been a while since I installed ffmpeg so something may have changed. Are you using the latest version of Raspbian?

I'll try in the next few days and see if I get the same issue.

Regards,
Keith.

Hi people, I have not edited the interrupt_client.py and interrupt_damon.py files other than to specify the pins I am using. Any idea why I am getting this error? Regards, Keith. Ok I've fixed this myself, the error is because I am using python3. If you want to use Python3 the sockets.sendall is ex...

interrupt_client.py error

Hi people, I'm slowly getting round to building my own weather station with the Maplin parts. I have the Wind direction working with analogeZero using the MCP3008. I am using the interrupt_damon.py and interrupt_client.py to log data from the wind speed and rain sensor, but I have modified log_all_s...

cant seem to find any MCP3427 2-channel 16-bit I2C ADC chips on ebay are there any other chips I could use. thanks again Bart. Sorry, a bit late, but I have modified the wind_direction.py to use an MCP3008, code is here (using gpiozero). https://github.com/keithellis74/weather_station Regards, Keith.

Hello, do you know how to use an ic mcp3008 as an ADC to connect with wind vane ? Also, do you have examples coding of wind vane that connect with mcp3008 ? Please i need you help for my final project .Next week is a due date and i'm still clueless about the coding and mcp3008. I have forked the Ra...

Is this how your file actually looks or are you using "myssid1" and "mypsk1" as dummy valules just for security here on the forum? You must change these values to match your actual network and the values to put in are to be found in the config pages of your router's web interface. I have the correc...

Re: Connecting wind and rain sensors (build your own station

Hi Keith, Thanks for sharing this. Is there any chance you can post a picture of your setup? I'm interested to see how you connected the weather vane to the RasP.iO, did you cut the RJ11 plug off and connect it directly? What else are you planning to add? I'm thinking of temp, humidity, wind speed/...

what's the cost of maplin's wind sensors? i mean, why the choice of these 2 analog sensors? it could be used a digital sensor like the LaCrosse TX23U.. Both the Maplin wind sensors together are about £14. So nice and cheap. I'm also replicating as much as possible the official Raspberry Pi weather ...

My Maplin sourced wind vane has the four compass points embossed on the plastic, I have to say the letters are not that obvious so easy to miss, I only noticed them when I was about mark north myself. Re: Connecting wind and rain sensors (build your own station

The wind direction sensor has the four compass points embossed in the base. Mine also has N written on it with a Sharpie because the embossing on the base wasn't well defined enough for my eyesight. Maybe the one's in the kit do, but my Maplins sourced one doesn't. Well I did have only a very quick...

Yes, as long as you have a reference and know which way it is pointing, the code could be changed to suit.

Keith.
