Thanks for your responses. I was able to run raspi-config from a remote ssh session and get things straightened out. I agree there should be some kind of warning issued about selecting a Dvorak keyboard. I had no idea what that was but it was the only option for the Keytronics keyboard I thought app...

I evidently choose the wrong keyboard when I initialized my pi. Now I can't log in (I get gibberish when I type). How can I get back to the raspi-config screen to set things right??
