Re: Enabling Camera squashes DPI pins

dt-blob-dualcam.dts pin_define@CAMERA_1_SDA_PIN { type = "internal"; number = <0>; }; pin_define@CAMERA_1_SCL_PIN { type = "internal"; number = <1>; }; GPIOs 0&1 are therefore given to the firmware to do with as it wishes. Linux should not touch these GPIOs or Bad Things can...

Follow the official docs - https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/display/README.md A number of 3rd party "tutorials" still use the extra two jumpers for I2C which are ONLY required on the very original Pi Model A and B's (see https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/...

Re: Enabling Camera squashes DPI pins

So, coming to your questions: bt-blob in use is the official one from here https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/computemodule/dt-blob-cam1.dts , no changes applied. Question: isn't this the default anyhow as the comment in the related section reads 'pins_cm4 { // Pi 4 CM4, or is a ded...

Re: kedei HDMI screen w/ touch not working as expected with kernel 5.10

I will look into the custom modes via xrandr and see if it helps. Am I correct in thinking that I'd need a cvt line in config.txt as well, to tell xrandr that the mode is supported? No, if you don't care about the initial boot process, then just adding it via xrandr is fine. xrandr knows how to dri...

Re: Enabling Camera squashes DPI pins

The firmware now restores the GPIO muxing when the final user of BSC0 is closed. So whilst raspistill is running I would expect to see 44&45 as SDA0 and SCL0. Once terminated they should be restored to inputs (or whatever other state they had been defined to be before raspistill was run). This w...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4: component replacement

Based on location and size, I'd suspect either C86 or C89 as on https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/schematics/rpi_SCH_4b_4p0_reduced.pdf. High pass filtering on the audio output. The two resistors at the edge I couldn't say, but I'd suspect it's again part of the audio ou...

Re: kedei HDMI screen w/ touch not working as expected with kernel 5.10

You wouldn't be able to use them with any standard Linux box then. You can add custom modes to X using xrandr. See the man pages, or https://askubuntu.com/questions/377937/how-do-i-set-a-custom-resolution If booting to just the console then you're currently more restricted. I'll ask whether there is...

Re: Rpi 4 with DRM and 7inch panel using kms driver

Well, this is screwing up the display timing. To my current understanding only the typical (center) values from the timing definition in 'panel-simple.c) were used, the first entry (min values) and the third value (max value) were ignored. I also not saw one driver checking an 'adjusted timing' aga...

Re: Stressing USB3 affects H264 encoding performance (Update).

Without working through exactly where things are blocking, it's hard to comment further. How many IL buffers do you have allocated on the encoder ports? The encode pipeline needs to be kept filled if you want optimum encode rate. MMAL test app at https://github.com/6by9/mmal_encode_example. Run on a...

Re: lost the email for my licenses how can I go about getting my licenses again?

Strictly speaking, the licence keys are not written to the OTP bits. Not enough OTP bits to hold them. That valid licence keys have been applied requires only one bit per licence. As referenced in https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/otpbits.md, the 32bit words of OTP regi...

If it has a valid EDID then remove all your edits and see what the kernel makes of it. It is far more flexible than the firmware. You may need disable_fw_kms_setup=1 to avoid the firmware interfering.

Re: Rpi 4 with DRM and 7inch panel using kms driver

4-lane DSI - with any of the displays that I have tested with - was a fail so far. I think I may have just found another possible cause. The Pi drives the DSI bus in burst mode because it comes via an integer divider off a PLL. SN65DSI83 supports burst mode, but it looks like the configuration is t...

Re: Rpi 4 with DRM and 7inch panel using kms driver

Both are alternate pin muxings of BSC0, correct?. If one would add "dtparam=i2c_vc=on" then they'll be presented as /dev/i2c-10 and i2c-0 respectively. I see the bridge on I2C10 (as expected), so why does it need to connect ID_SD/ID_SC? 'raspi-gpio get' does not show them configured to I2...

I appreciate it's frustrating, but we can only work with the information you provide us. Arguing with us that it must be the bootloader when it can't be adds nothing. At the moment you haven't provided information on the Linux kernel version you're running (uname -a) nor firmware (vcgencmd version),...

Re: Any plans to use the C0 stepping for the Pi4B?

I find it slightly odd that people ask for detailed differences with between hardware steppings as generally they are insignificant to the end user. Intel publish info on which steppings you can buy (eg the i5-9400F is on U0!!! :o), but they don't appear to publish publicly details of those steppings.

Re: Rpi 4 with DRM and 7inch panel using kms driver

3 lane working but 4 not is still weird. I'd hoped that divider issue would have resolved that. Please don't introduce weird interactions into this thread - it's convoluted enough already. vc4-kms-dsi-sn65dsi83 enables i2c0if and i2c0mux, so claims GPIOs 0&1 and 44&45. vc4-kms-kippah-7inch c...

Re: After I've updated the EEPROM latest I have no DSI display image (black)

There are 3 items that frequently get confused the bootloader EEPROM. Whilst this does bring up the HDMI diagnostic screen, it has no other graphics drivers, and does not touch I2C or DSI the firmware (start*.elf). This handles the legacy display stack and vc4-fkms-v3d, and can driver the Pi display...

spi-bcm2835 fe204000.spi: could not get clk: -517. Error 517 is - EPROBE_DEFER and is a non-fatal error used during loading all the drivers. What software are you using? The sensor has a 4:3 aspect ratio. Most monitors have a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. You need to specify that you want the preview to have a 16:9 aspect ratio (eg 1920x1080), and then the system will chop a strip off both the top and bottom of the sensor images to produ...

Re: Understanding MMAL camera control interactions

It is not really clamping that I am seeing. If you turn the gain right down you will get a black image, or right up you get a white image. However for a surprisingly large range of gains between these values the image is the expected view and largely unaffected by the exact gain value, so over this...

was already added to /boot/config.txt - so my RPi4 has a stock problem with the MIPI DSI? it just disabled itself alter eeprom update? or the kernel itself? The default for the 32bit OS is for vc4-fkms-v3d, not vc4-kms-v3d. No, the update will not have magically enabled that. If you're using the 64...

Re: kedei HDMI screen w/ touch not working as expected with kernel 5.10

DRM/KMS relies heavily on the EDID of the display. That should tell the kernel exactly what mode to run in, but it causes an issue should there be no EDID. dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d is mapped to dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d-pi4 automatically on platforms running BCM2711 (Pi4, Pi400, and CM4). Your config.txt e...
