Re: Raspberry pi 3 and youtube

I was mistaken. Sorry. I looked at a lot of Raspberry PI alternatives over the last week that were 2GB and in my feeble older mind, I lumped them all together. I didn't want to throw any more fuel on the fire on this thread :-)

Re: Raspberry pi 3 and youtube

and yes.... I get that its an educational tool. If you are going to make the case that it "shouldn't" play videos right out of the box, then why have a gui? Why not make everyone learn machine language and compile their own assembler and why not have them develop their own language from scratch inst...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 and youtube

Using an special browser like kweb should enable you to use Youtube @ 30 fps even on older models. I just tried to install kweb. The system chastises me for not having another 1/2 dozen or so programs already installed. This is why God invented apt-get... It seems that people make this unnecessaril...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 and youtube

IMO asking an uninitiated to overclock etcetera is not good... .....omxplayer is still the best player as it is hardware accelerated and kweb or KODI in Raspbian Jessie would be my advice. I just tried to install kweb and even though there were pieces missing, apparently kweb installed, but Youtube...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 and youtube

[ You might have to do things "different", but the device is advertised as being able to play 1080p video and it is a quadcore 1.2 GHz cpu with 2GB. Pretty much the same as all my android devices that have had no problem playing video for years. And yes, I actually did play videos from youtube in t...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 and youtube

IMO asking an uninitiated to overclock etcetera is not good... Why not? 6 days ago was the first time I ever touched a pi, or even really messed with a linux based OS like this, and in your opinion, that means It was a mistake to overclock? There is a "How To" for even the most clueless pi3 user to...

but the device is advertised as being able to play 1080p video and it is a quadcore 1.2 GHz cpu with 2GB That is incorrect. It is 1GB. I have installed this from the latest version of Raspbian as of Mar 6, 2016 and we all run the same hardware... I have a Rpi3, and you are running nowhere near what...

Re: Raspberry pi 3 and youtube

Is there some hardware that needs to be configured for proper youtube video playback via the web browser? Even 320 or 360p video is excruciating slow and choppy and the audio is choppy also. It seems like Raspbian isnt optimized for video, like the early days of linux. There was no (web) video in t...

Absolutely. Not my first rodeo with bluetooth devices :)

There seems to be be multiple generations of bluetooth stacks in the RP community in general. Some of the information is probably old.

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Bluetooth Setup

Any other ideas? I have confirmed BT is running in my Pi3. I have done a complete system update. I did a firmware update. I do an hcitools scan and I get an address of my BT speaker I do exactly what Frank did and I get the same message. Device A0:E9:D8:00:3B:98 is not available. I followed up with:...

<t>Looks like the attention the Rasp-Pi is getting is going to bring out the trolls here too.  Pay no attention to the poster.  Probably a competitor.  I'm sure we will hear more nastiness in the coming months... whispered conspiracies, bad evaluations, problems with manufacturinig, child labor, etc...

<r>I took the time (2 hours) to read this entire thread.  There are many good reasons to teach many fine concepts to children, but the one overwhelming obstacle is that you will have to convince Johnny that writing his how "game" is better than waiting for EA or UbiSoft to come out with yet  another...
