Homework ideas - modelling permutations of combination

Hi, we have been using the raspberry pi to do a few home works with my daughter. We like to keep using it and it's been really great doing them together. I feel this homework will be suitable for the pi but I can't quite get into my head what the best thing to do is! Three ice cream combinations, ho...

Re: School auto-login to Internet session

Many thanks for all your replies. I half expected to come to back to an empty thread! Firstly, the policy was brought in place to track student mac users internet browsing as apparently mac did not naturally authenticate with the login. I work with the IT manager and line manage the IT team with the...

Re: School auto-login to Internet session

Just to clarify, as this is apparently not a proxy authentication but registering with the UTM for a browser session, doing this in 10proxy does NOT work: http://username:password@ipaddress:port

School auto-login to Internet session

Morning, I'm a teacher at a school in manchester and near 9 months ago we built a Pi weather station which automatically tweets the weather conditions and a picture. The Internet rules changed a month ago and has caused a huge issue with the project. Any non-windows machine must login with their nor...

School Classroom exit progress indicator

I was in PC world the other day and on exit noticed a white pedestal, with three big faces on buttons :)  - it was obvious without any words that you needed to press a button to indicate your opinion of the service/satification of your trip. I teach and it would be great to have somethi...

Re: Red Light only - won`t turn on after 1 month

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I`ve tried a few supplies and no luck! I`ve done lots of tests as I have a good number of working Pi`s and SD cards and definitely neither the SD card or the Pi from the problem unit is working!

What else could I have blown?

Re: Red Light only - won`t turn on after 1 month

Further update - 5.3 v between TP1 and TP2.
Tried 3 different SD cards, all of which boot on other Pi and do not boot on this one.

Tried pushing down on the SD card - SD card is making contact by the looks of it.

Re: Red Light only - won`t turn on after 1 month

No, checked the fuse and 5.2v and 5.4v on either side.
Does it seem odd that the SD card has been corrupted as well?

Any other suggestions?

Red Light only - won`t turn on after 1 month

I have been using a Raspberry Pi at school as a weather station using http://airpi.es/ This is a board that plugs into the GPIO ports and records weather data to Xively and Twitter @CHSweather Two days ago, during weekend it just stopped. When I noticed it not recording data today, I found that the ...

Re: How to calculate moving average

Ok, it makes sense what you are advising I do but maybe I should add more context. This is for a windSpeed measurement. Every 30 seconds or user set time, all data is exported to a website for processing, graphs and such. Do I really want an exponentially weighted average for this - if the wind has ...

Re: How to calculate moving average

Well thank you for your replies and I have asked the questions and certainly got lots of suggestions and sample codes. I admit, a lot of this has gone over my head. As ultimately I'm integrating this code into a script that is already doing an awful lot (a weather station), I do need to try and sele...

How to calculate moving average

Hi guys I'm fairly new to python but have a script that is calculating the number of pulses every second - anywhere between 0 and 150. However, a snapshot of one of these counts would be too random and they need smoothing with an average. With my limited knowledge, I could count second one, count se...

Interrupt to count pulses on gpio pin every x seconds

Hello, I am helping the students at school with a weather station and to measure wind speed I have pulse on a gpio digital pin every rotation. I want to use an interrupt to capture the number of rotations say every 5 or 10 seconds and store this to a variable windSpeed. Pulses will be relatively slo...

Re: Raspberry Pi Club

What about a weather station like airpi.es I'm a teacher and the beauty about this project is that you have electronics, programming and DT in building a box for it! You can then put it outside and let it run headless to record data 24/7. You could even pass it over the geographers to look after onc...

Re: Poster Competition?

I must admit, I entered a while back. If I remember correctly there was the poster entry or as a teacher you could enter details on how you had done an hour of coding with your students. I entered this way, simply showing what we had done with some evidence. Maybe in am confusing the issue and these...

Raspberry Pi proxy and firewall

Hello, I work in a school and have purchased some Raspis for the school however we are having massive issues with proxy settings or our school firewall. My IT department will support me but they are not familiar with Linux and really I'm going to have to direct them if I want to get this fixed. In t...

1. 6ms 4ms 3ms 10.10.10.2

Don`t know if that helps any! To be honest, I just want to send the data being collected on the RasPi to Xively!

Re: Proxy settings - access net in terminal

Hi, I`m not really clear on networking but if it helps, yes we do have user and pass logins but that is to access the local network. I can get an internet connection by bringing in any device and adding proxy to proxy.oldsch and adding the port 8080. I can then get access to the net on any device no...

Re: Proxy settings - access net in terminal

https://github.com/tomhartley/AirPi

This is the code I`m running and it uploads the data to xively. It works fine from home but here in school it fails and I don`t know why. I`ve got all the weather station modules and I really need to get this working or it`ll be a great waste in money!
