Hello, try also to build dosbox-svn with dynrec, you should get better performances (just read a couple of posts above ;)

Re: Video driver options recap and clarification (thanks!)

Thank you for the extremely useful link that actually answers all my questions.

Now I wonder if the development of the FULL KMS video driver for RPi 4 is still ongoing despite Vulkan, and if there are estimates of the release date.

Thank you

Video driver options recap and clarification (thanks!)

Hello, I'd like to ask for a clarification regarding the video drivers currently available (and those currently being worked on) for RPi 3 and 4 (the two models that I currently have). Actually I understand that there are three options: a) Legacy driver b) OpenGL Fake KMS driver c) OpenGL Full KMS d...

It is strange that *he* is not detecting the problem, since it is a known issue, as you also confirm. As I have already written I am not questioning the complexity here, and I understand that it's something extremely difficult to solve. What I do not accept, and which has pushed me not to ask for mo...

Re: Is there a fix yet, for the screen tearing, on the PI 4b

I have a RPi1, a RPi3+ and a RPi4, and I really love the Raspberry Foundation, but denying that a (already known) problem exists does not seem fair to me. On a fresh installation of Raspbian just drag quickly a window and you will get a lot of tearing (disabling the compositor I didn't have any bene...

You build DOSBox-SVN using the instructions included in this DOSBox build guide that I wrote. ... Thank you very much, good to know that DOSBox-SVN has dynrec activated by default. Re: DOSBox 0.74-3 MSDOS x86 emulator

Hello, I'd like to build Dosbox-SVN with dynarec support on my Raspberry Pi 4 . I'll follow these steps: Download the latest svn version of dosbox here: https://sourceforge.net/p/dosbox/code-0/HEAD/tree/dosbox/trunk/ Unpack it somewhere, then in the directory run: ./autogen.sh ./configure --disable-...

Re: Why is dosbox with OpenGL drawing so slow?

Thank you for your kind feedback!
So I'll go for Dosbox-SVN with arm dynarec and output surface.

There is a way to check if arm dynarec is active in the binary after building the source?

Thanks

Re: Why is dosbox with OpenGL drawing so slow?

Hello,
I've read that article, but is DosBox-X the best choice for performance in RPi4?
It is more accurate, OK, but this means that it could also be slower. Moreover in the article it's build "as-is" with no dynrec etc... I don't know... :|

Re: Why is dosbox with OpenGL drawing so slow?

Hello, I'm using DosBox on Raspberry Pi 4, actually installed via apt-get (official Raspbian repository). May I ask, please: 1. which is the "best" (in terms of performance but also of updated code) version of DosBox for RPi4? (standard DosBox from repository/ SVN etc.) 2. which is the "best" vidoe ...

It seems that we are trying to achieve the same objective (but with not so good results by my side, with RPi4 and VGA 666)

at least I won't go crazy trying to fix this anymore and I'll just keep using my pi 3! I have come to the same conclusion. I don't have any hardware at hand to test with, however having an odd number in any of the horizontal values will have issues. The pipeline on the pi4 runs at 2 pixels per clock, so inserting odd values would require switch output phase mid cycle. Most displays are tolerant of being out by one on t...
