Re: My 13 year old son feels cheated

Considering the unjustified sense of entitlement about all affairs Raspberry Pi, including the foundations actions on this forum I'm not surprised "they" chose to not say anything. The second people know something is happening there will be people banging on the door asking for details and dates. If...

Re: What Windows 10 'IoT' could mean for Raspberry Pi 2

i always assume as slag is left over waste material from mining, therefore slagging something off is rubbishing something. I worked for a long time with memory-extended DOS, and when that was completely obsolete I tried to move my work to Windows. I was frustrated by the lack of information on the O...

Re: What Windows 10 'IoT' could mean for Raspberry Pi 2

Just ubuntu core, not snappy which afaict has more services at the bare minimum it's seems : 1) it'll start windows a kernel, some essential user level stuff and have a CLI 2) you can remote debug etc and push your code to the pi2 from visual studio from there, literally, the world is yours. win32 p...

Re: What Windows 10 'IoT' could mean for Raspberry Pi 2

All the big players, including Apple have been through paradigm shifts and reinvention. Its a must-do for a successful modern company. This is why investment in research programs and labs by global companies allows them to be ahead of the game by investigating, and driving the innovation in emerging...

Re: What Windows 10 'IoT' could mean for Raspberry Pi 2

The lack of information is the reason for my carefully tiered conjecture :) Are you sure about that cost of entry to the Windows App Hub? Not entirely. However, you don't have to also invest a couple hundred on Apple hardware (like a Mac Mini) to build the app either! Overall cost of entry would be ...

Thank you James, I was going to post something similar myself at the foot of my post but refrained :) I did notice you posted in the FAQ about the UI, or lack thereof but I understand if you don't/can't confirm/deny some of my conjecture. At the very least my biggest hope is for the Universal Applic...

What Windows 10 'IoT' could mean for Raspberry Pi 2

Hi Everyone, peeking out from my hiding place in the woods to throw some conjecture on here! I've seen a bit of confusion and accidental misinformation out there regarding the existing news about RPI2, and as there's not already a topic out there on this I thought I'd fire one up, specifically targe...

There's not really such a thing as simple.. find a "hello triangle" from an OpenGL ES 2.0 book, tutorial series or devkit and go from there

Re: OpenGL ES tutorials?

the samples there weren't that hardcore.. and they also cross compile to desktop opengl es via their emulator (which i believe uses mesa under the hood) which i've successfully ported to run over AMDs native OpenGL ES desktop stuff too.

Re: Font handling on OpenGLES

Not been active here much, but i've recently done some OpenGL ES text rendering 'system font' style using the headers output from the pixel font creator tool ( http://www.min.at/prinz/software/pixelfont/ ) being pixel based its chunky, but good enough for some simple things like FPS counters and on ...

Re: You can lead a school to Pi, but...

Unfortunately this is probably going to be true - my partner is a teacher, and among the things that stand out is one particular technlogical 'wonder' that was invested in and installled in a lot of rooms/suites that aren't used. The reason? The teachers on the ground don't know how to use because t...

Re: Bill Gates backs Raspberry Pi in all but name?

and whats been in the headlines lately? BSODs? not for a while..

but there have been several Mac OS X "kernel panics"

including this one. http://gizmo.do/OlO5

i'm noticing more and more that mac's aren't as bulletproof as people claim, and updates to software, let along the OS do kill them.

Bill Gates backs Raspberry Pi in all but name?

Rather than a tablet, Gates envisages "a low-cost PC that's going to let them be highly interactive" as more effective in education.

i believe that just bricked my pi.. however i also just accidentally put in a resolution it doesnt support.

..having to reimage and get back to where i was before i can verify that.
