I did use "sudo su" before I started the desktop, I have also entered it into the terminal window...

Umm, the last few times I have tried to download the zip file, it comes in under half the size of yours despite saying it is 577MB, is there a mirror site or can you give some guidance on using the torrent, please? :?:

Hmmm, I need to download a new image as the card I was using had a very out dated version of the OS and the other larger card I stuck RISC OS on for an experiment using BBC basic. The zip is file 328,964 K, the torrent file is another way but I don't seem to access to my torrent client anymore. Glenn

Trouble Downloading the latest Raspian Whezzy

Hi All,
I asked a question about using the GPIO yesterday and was advised to download the latest Raspian Wheezy, tried it with my broad band it takes around 2 hours, when it lands finally I can't open the zip file as it is corrupt, is there an issue here? or am I being stupid?
