Which Pi for motionEyeOS

I'm planing to make some surveillance camera and I'm planning to use motionEyeOS. I have some old Pi B from a cluster project. Are they any good to use or should I go for the Pi3. Yes I know that there are different versions for the old Pi 1 and for Pi 3. Have anybody any advice for me?

PWM in Python

I have some questions about PWM. I am using Python 3. 1) I know RPi.GPIO supports soft PMW, is there a way to use the hardware PWM from Python? Or must I use the soft PWM? 2) I am planning to use a dual H-bridge L298N board to control two motors. I will use PWM om the L298N's Enable pins to control ...

Re: What I really want.

Well, at work every piece of equipment i install has a little label with the MAC address on it, even if I don't need it. OK, the "missing" MAC label is only a minor problem. I have at present 15 Pis and I have ordered 4 new from Farnell. I don't think it is a big cost to supply every Pi with this la...

What I really want.

OK, I don't want a SATA interface, I don't want a a Gigabit LAN port. More memory is allways nice. But what I really want is a little label on every Pi I buy with the MAC addresses on, for wired LAN and for WiFi. With two exeptions I use my pi's headless wia SSH. It would be very nice to just edit m...

Booting from USB devie. No atble to write to otp

I ave followed the instructions at https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bootmodes/msd.md to the letter, and the "/boot/config.txt" has "program_usb_boot_mode=1" as the last line. But the "vcgencmd otp_dump | grep 17:" gives "17:1020000a". So it seems that the bit is not set...

,end="\r"

I'm playing with the Sense Hat and was printing out temperature, but when I run the program via Idle3 the result is not OK. In command line it is OK. I use this statement: print ("T: %2.4f, H: %2.4f, P: %2.4f" % (tmp, htemp, ptemp), end="\r") This print out float numbers and perform a carriage retur...

RPI zero activity LED

Do anyone know witch GPIO port the activity LED is connected to. I have a problem with a RPI zero with WiFi. I freezes and I am not able to determine if the fault is the zero or the WiFi. My idea is to write a small program that makes the activity LED flash periodical with 1 sec. intervals, then if ...

RPI zero freezes?

I have discovered that my RPI zero freezes after one or two days. I use Jessie installed via NOOB. I am running the zero headless via a USB WiFi adaptor, and log in on the zero via Putty. Putty is not the problem. The zero vas connected at with the command prompt, I just left it so after installing ...

I have 2 model B2 and one is always displaying this warning, the other is not.
Anyway I'll stop worrying.
Thanks for the help.

Re: POE Hat

a) 802.3af compatible POE device that will have the ability to power the Pi via GPIO Max (2Amps). This is nice, but there are some 802.3af splitters out there at a low price. You can not connect then to the RPi's 40 pins connector, but they do the job if you make a 3,5 mm jack to micro USB cable. b...

Re: Getting Images onto smaller cards

Why must you clone the SD card for backup. It is waste of SD cards. Most of my RPi don't get backed up. My RPi NAS, no backup of the RPi needed. The USB HD is an other matter. My RPI DHCP and DNS server, I just made a copy of the config files. My RPi cluster, this is just for fun, I don't bother if ...

Re: GPIO as Input

Thank you for good reply. I see, I will continue using those resistors, even if they take up space om my boards.
I do fool around with the software, and I can do foolish errors when programming. I had not considered the output problem.

Thanks again.

Re: Connecting to GPIO while RasPi is powered on

Hi, I have not been successful in finding concrete information about this. I am wondering if there is a requirement that the RasPi be shut down while connecting components to the GPIO pins. What if I am only connecting an LED and a resistor to the power pins? Thanks. I do this all the time, I use a...

GPIO as Input

Hello! I have read and I do follow the rules when I use the GPIO as output so I do not overload the GPIO ports. However, I have not found any information how to behave when a GPIO pin is configured as input pin. Is it safe to connect it directly to the 3V3 or to the 0V? For example using a switch. I...

Can you please specify what do you mean by "Relay to Ground"? Do you mean is at the grounding of the coil or the 12V gnd? Sure. You seem to have your relay wired like in the (very poorly drawn) diagram A. I'm suggesting you wire it like diagram B (which is just as poor). relay.png This. And please ...

There is no other assembler topic. But, the question intrigued me enough to do a bit of investigation. Basically the argume...
