Re: Using a Raspberry Pi with Arduino to look at soil moistu

I like your project / idea. I would just store the data into an sqlite database on the pi and create a simple web interface that will display the data (per plant / sensor would be ideal) + add some html buttons for manual watering if you feel like it :) per plant obviously.

Re: disable hdmi powerdown or mode change

Ok, Have you tried by any chance using a different raspberry pi and see if you have the same results ? Have you tried a different screen with your current pi ? Yes, the Raspberry looper is a distro : http://curioustechnologist.com/post/88679377976/free-seamlessly-looping-raspberry-pi-video-kiosk The...

Re: portable media server usb drive or sd card?

Just to support lizardstuffryan comment : I have been using the Kingston 8GB DATA TRAVELER MINI on a Pi that was used in production environment for about 9 months. The Pi was on 24/7 and providing a database for managing volunteers. The actual data was stored on the Traveler while the Pi itself moun...

Re: Set Up Multiple Ethernet Networks with different static

Hi, I'm not sure where the problem is - just configure a static entry for eth0 on the raspberry pi and your sorted. Example : auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.1.155 network 192.168.1.0 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255 Unless you are after something totally different... R...

Re: Raspberry Pi Video Slideshow

Hi Richard, Have a look at the raspberry pi looper (google : rpi looper) - its much better for what you need and actually does the job. Have a look on youtube for a sample video - its a nice and smooth video experience without any gap in between. But your problem is most likely the player software -...

Re: Media, Chester

Chester, What your looking for doesn't exist at the moment for the raspberry pi )as far as I'm aware). But the good thing is that its not a super complicated project that your after. Few questions first : - clients in the field : Will they be spread in different locations on different networks ? Or ...

Re: disable hdmi powerdown or mode change

Hi, Your config looks fine as far as I can tell. If you are having problems with hdmi powering down I would suggest four things : - uncomment the config_hdmi_boost and give it a value of 7 (I think that is the maximum it will accept) and see how it goes ! - how good is your power supply for the pi ?...

Re: Simply play a slideshow of images from a network drive

Hi, I'm actually working on such a solution. It works for me but I haven't managed to code everything yet into a nice web gui for an average person to be able to use. Most of the gui is done . I will be providing a virtual appliance for the server side (Samba configured so you don't have to mess aro...

Re: Pi for more serious use - small servers !

Wow guys !!! I've got so many replies that I have no idea where to start. I've got two RPIs and one of them (Ver 1.0 256 MB RAM) is really not what I would call a stable platform. I'm using a RPI dedicated power supply and IPE as my operating system (its a read-only system : http://nutcom.hu/?page_i...

Pi for more serious use - small servers !

Hi people, As we all love to play around with the Pi, but some of us (me as an example) have come across some problems of hardware / software stability. I would like to use my Pi as a little server for some sensors + web server. The only problem is that it is not really stable to work 24/7 365/yr. M...
