i2c and PCA9554PW

I'm trying to use this driver with PCF8574's younger sibling - PCA9554P with a 16x2 lcd display, but it does not work at all. I'm constantly getting a same error: Traceback (most recent call last): File "examples.py", line 5, in <module> mylcd = RPi_I2C_driver.lcd() File "/home/pi/i2c/RPi_I2C_driver...

Re: Wall plug project box

Here is an idea I used to create a portable 3G/4G access point, using Pi 1 B, two small, black, plastic boxes, glued one to the other, psu 220/5 V 2A inside the smaller one and a wall power plug adapter (chinese to european standard).
Hope this'll help you. ;)

Re: Q3lite - Quake III Arena for the Raspberry Pi

Odd... I'm seem to remember something about "can not chown misho:misho", but perhaps it was a one time event. But every time when I try compilation, following your guide to the letter, the same errors appeared: [3J[H[2J [01;37mCompiling Q3lite on a Pi 3 [0m make[1]: Entering directory '/usr/src/q3li...

[imho] This installation guide will succeed only if the default user "pi" has not been renamed. Mine was and the installation cannot bring itself to success.

Re: SSH session freezing

Try either one of this or both:

Open /etc/ssh/sshd_config
1. Add "UseDNS no" (without quotes) - speeding up the ssh session;
or
2. Add "IPQoS cs0 cs0" at the bottom of the file - resolves freezing of the ssh session on Pi3's inbuilt wifi adapter (not tried with other adapters).

Re: [SOLVED] Samba on Stretch from WinXP

To make XP use NTLMv2, have a look here: https://www.imss.caltech.edu/node/396 Thanks for the response. But at the time being it was the only possible solution, because I've "rammed my head at the wall" for too long. I'm not that deep into linux and it's applications, therefore I did not had the ne...

Code: Select all

[homes]
   comment = Home Directories
   browseable = no
   writeable = yes
   read only = no
   create mask = 0775
   directory mask = 0775

These are the only lines I've used to add at Jessie's samba configuration file and it works flawlessly. But on Stretch it does not.

Re: bash - assign symbols from command output

I don't think anyone has any idea what: I want to assign a different command to a different symbol from the output. means. Ok. I'll throw a little bone here. Imagine a single LED attached to a GPIO pin that indicates the current IP address using binary coding, by replacing the 1s and 0s with short ...

Are you trying to determine your IP address in a bash script? ip -4 addr show | awk '/inet.*global/ {print $2}' Not exactly. The "ifconfig" was just an example. I'm trying to learn how to associate a symbol from any command output to a variable. Basically I want to assign a different command to a d...

bash - assign symbols from command output

I'm trying to assign every symbol from output of a command to a variable. for example: ifconfig eth0 | grep inet | tr -d 'inetadrBcMsk:' | awk '{ print $1 }' | tr '.' ' ' | awk '{ print $2 }' results to: 168 The goal is to assign every digit ( no matter the value ) to different variable in bash. How...

Re: Whitey no longer working after Youtube update?

I solved it few days ago. Just installed tmux and elinks2 and wrote a small script containing the command for url extraction: tmux new-window "omxplayer '$(youtube-dl -g $1)'" , associated the script with a quick key in elinks browser and everything is ready - when I press the associated key over a ...

Re: Batch processing in bash

No, I have not. Because I made some digging about the "case" statement and I found out that it is more suitable if there is a need for comparing of 2 or more patterns. Still I may use it in another bash tool because it will reduce the required variables.

Batch processing in bash

Let assume that I want to process multiple files in a directory. The goal is to change the encodings of subtitle files automatically. I have already wrote a script that does this perfectly. for file in *.srt; do iconv -f cp1251 -t utf-8 "$file" -o "/home/pi/${file%.srt}.srt" mv /home/pi/*.srt . done...
