I managed to hack some additional renamed drivers into the kernel. Works perfectly well for the first 2 receivers/transmitters. Haven't tried the other two. @chrisalanwest I managed to figure out and get the lirc_rpi.c file you linked to built, and in the process discovered it only has multiple output support not multiple input support like I wanted.
