Re: Data centre hosting - GROUP BUY?

When I was at Colocker the other day I bumped into the guys that run raspberrypi-hosting.com, Andrew and Rob. They run an offer to host a Raspberry Pi in Colocker at £4 per month which includes supplying the Pi and a USB key for more storage. If I wasn't already committed to my own locker with plans...

Re: Data centre hosting - GROUP BUY?

Also another consideration, I'll also put you on the access list for Colocker so you get to go over there and use their workbenches with a stupidly fast connection. That's worth £30 a year on it's own I think!

Re: Data centre hosting - GROUP BUY?

Thanks for your comments. To anyone reading I will point out that there is a significant price difference between what you are offering and my suggestion. My £30 annual vs your £74 annual, also no installation fees with my service whereas yours charges £31. So, the first year is going to cost over £...

Re: Data centre hosting - GROUP BUY?

Ok so I went ahead and ordered a colocation locker up at Colocker in Milton Keynes. Really nice guys, couldn't be more helpful whilst I was setting up. Even made me a cup of coffee. Just my Pi in the locker at the moment but plenty of room for more to keep it company! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BX1...

Which case is best?

Wanting to buy a case for my latest RPi. What is the general consensus on which is best? I like this one Raspberry Pi Case / Box - High Quality (Blue) for Model B as it looks smart but I'm worried about the SD card being knocked out. This one on the other hand solves that problem but doesn't look an...

Re: DediPi - RaspberryPi Dedicated Servers

If somebody kills one of our Pi's through overclocking, they'll be expected to pay the price of a new Pi. That's a bit silly. How will you prove that it died due to overclocking? The client will just deny all knowledge. Could be an expensive risk both for you and your customer. If something genuine...

Re: Data centre hosting - GROUP BUY?

By the way, no reason why you couldn't contribute from the US. For cost reasons though it might be wise for you to send me the money for the Pi and a dd of a mem card if you want something custom and I'll order one here for you.

Re: Data centre hosting - GROUP BUY?

I was thinking we have one spare Pi with a card reader attached via USB. That way two cards can be mounted up at once and people can log in and rebuild the card.

Or of course a user could post a new card to me, or direct to the data centre.

Re: Using SSH throw a satellite or radio?

If distance is the issue and it's just SSH (ie low bandwidth) I would suggest looking at some amateur radio kit. The thing you want is called a TNC - essentially a modem for radio - and then of course a transceiver to connect it up to. I dare say you could make it work using those PMR 'walkie talkie...

Data centre hosting - GROUP BUY?

Hi everyone I'm trying to get a group of people together to share the cost of hosting RPI's in a data centre. My plan is to rent a locker at Colocker in Milton Keynes ( http://www.colocker.com ) and I think we could easily fit 20+ Pis in there on a central power supply. Why would you want to do this...
