Re: FFMPEG for Raspberry Pi

ffmpeg compiles pretty fast using:

make -j4

This makes use of all 4 cores. Just built ffmpeg on RPi 3. Didnt time it, but it was <1hour I think.

Re: How to install latest version of mpd?

Thanks - I should have said that I did try building the latest mpd, but ./configure barks about needing a version of glib-2.xx that isn't installed. Guess I'm also wondering how long it takes updated software/packages like mpd to make their way into the raspbian repositories. Maybe its when things m...

How to install latest version of mpd?

How do I install the latest version of mpd on Raspbian? Its currently running version 0.16 and I really need the latest version 0.18.

It doesn't seem to update when doing apt-get update or upgrade....

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Reliable shoutcast playback

Thanks Richard for your reply. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to scripting, so if you have any scripts to share I would appreciate it. I currently have "mpc next" in a cron job that runs every 30 minutes. Not the most ideal, because when its playing fine, and you run mpc next, the aud...

Re: Reliable shoutcast playback

Okay, I got mpd/mpc working, however it seems that just like mplayer, mpd will NOT automatically reconnect to a shoutcast stream after a "prolonged" network error/outage. By prolonged, this is generally only around a few minutes. Easily replicated by simply unplugging the eth0 cable for >6...

Re: Reliable shoutcast playback

I guess may be I should use mpd?

Would this be the most reliable way to always play the one shoutcast stream that I want it to play?

Reliable shoutcast playback

I'm looking for a way to get the Pi to play back a ShoutCast stream with high-reliability. What I mean by this is if the stream goes away, or there is a network issue, or whatever...the Pi continually tries to grab the stream until its successful and keeps right on playing it. I started by setting u...

Re: motorcycle noise when playing most video

Not sure if this is related, but I was getting a bad hum on the analog audio output port. I fixed it by hacking an RCA cable, plugged it into the composite video port, and grounded it to the screw of the AC outlet (US). Could be bad power, power supply, or something else...like a ground loop of sort...
