Re: Streaming Garage Radio

Considering that the amps I have been seeing have a 3 pin connector for input (I'm guessing for L,R, GND), a 3.5mm "stereo" cable is what I would need in order to interface with the 3 pin connector. Would that be correct? Is there any reason I would need a hat for the raspberry pi, or would/should ...

Re: Streaming Garage Radio

https://www.hifiberry.com/products/ampplus/ Plex Media Server is an alternative !! That appears to be only 25w and I'm not sure that would be enough juice. Unless I'm wrong? I mean, I dont want to be hooking up cheap PC speakers to this. Just sayin. lol I did see that the HIFIBERRY AMP2 is a 60w am...

Re: Streaming Garage Radio

Fair enough, So you want an RPi that has Pandora on it that can play music in your garage? Are you going to hardwire the extra 2 speakers for the corner or have a pi connected to each of those as well? Well, just to make sure I am clear, the RPi will be in the garage as well, but yes it my plan is ...

Streaming Garage Radio

I have an RPi 2 and I REALLY want to put a streaming (Pandora) radio out in my garage, but I want it to be wireless, and with bluetooth so I can stream from my phone. Here's what I am thinking. I would like to have 2 smaller speakers (for the high and mid range) and one sub (for the boom booms) I pl...

SMS on Pi

I accidentally came across an article on doing SMS to and from the Pi via Whatsapp and the internet (no cellphone or 3G dongle needed). I may have done something wrong during my setup last night, but everything completed successfully and I cannot recieve a message on my phone. Even after it did send...

Re: Powering Multiple Pi's

I've purchased many other items from Adafruit before, with excellent results, so I suspect this is a good item https://www.adafruit.com/product/1385 Never purchased from these guys, but it is cheaper http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-KIS3R33S-5V-USB-DC-7V-24V-to-5V-3A-Step-Down-Buck-Module-For-Phone-MP3-MP...

Any that you recommend or could point me towards? :) I'm curious to take a look at these as a possible option.

Re: Powering Multiple Pi's

I have thought about that, especially as a workbench PSU. Might try to find a small form factor PC power supply to do this with. Would be cool if I could power 5+ Pi's off the PC PSU 5v power. Suppose the big thing's going to be how many amps are coming of that 5v line.

Powering Multiple Pi's

I plan on having multiple Pi's and they will all be sitting together on a bench. I have a 12v 25A power supply that I use for ham radio stuff, but I would like to see if I could power my Pi's from it. I know that the Pi's only need 5v 1-2A, but is there a way I would be able to utilize this power su...

Re: APRS iGate Logging Idea

Well I have done that, of course, and even though it doesn't clearly state the syntax, I do have it in my config and when I run direwolf -p I don't get any errors but I also don't get any file created. I have also tried to do it right from command by running "direwolf -p -l ." When you use the -l op...

APRS iGate Logging Idea

I am a ham radio operator and have a Raspberry Pi that I am using for an APRS iGate. The software I am using is called Direwolf and the Pi is connected to my handheld (Wouxun KG-UV6D). When an APRS enabled ham radio connects to the iGate, data packets are transmitted between them. That all aside I h...

Re: Pi Power

Built in hub, should supply enough power then. I'd think. I am going to try tonight and see what happens. I will also be receiving a 2A power supply today for it that I just bought on Amazon. I think those USB ports will supply 1.5A tops, but if for whatever reason its not "low power" I have the 2A ...

Pi Power

I just picked up an LCD monitor for my Pi and noticed about 4 USB ports on it. I started thinking (that's a dangerous process), the Pi is powered via micro USB, if I took my USB cable from one of my smartphone chargers (the kind with a regular USB end and a micro USB end) could I power the Pi via th...

My wife has one of those decent sizes whiteboard type calenders with the dry erase markers. Well I had an idea that I would like to make real. I am a huge user of Google Calender. I have two of them. I currently have a Pi 2 running Raspbian. I have been looking for a screen for it but I have just a few issues. Most of the screens I am finding target for the Pi, are not cased. I feel that this can be kind of a problem when it comes to managing cable and extra attached boards. Because of that, I w...

I was handed a Pi B and was told "I think its fried but if you can find out whats wrong, and fix it, it's yours".
