Re: HQ cam: rapid raspistill captures?

I think you can have a look at RaspiVid.c, there the output buffer for the case of not being H264 is set.

I had no luck trying to change it, but I did not had time to really try...

Re: 10 FPS Jpg Stream

I would suggest to go for video and not still images. Do you have other requirements, like latency, or something? You stream via wifi, correct? Does your opencv program directly receives and processes the streamed data? Do you require jpeg or would h264 be fine, too? Usually h264 has a higher qualit...

Re: HQ cam: convert raspividyuv output to still images ?

I used it on a 2GB Pi4. ffmeg -pixel_format yuv420p -video_size 4064x3040 -i test.yuv -filter:v "crop=4056:3040:0:0" -qscale:v 1 -qmin 1 -qmax 1 test%04d.jpg This will also crop the image to the real size. It took less then 14 seconds for 14 frames, but, yes, it took 972MB of RAM. The saved jpg imag...

Re: HQ Camera max cable length

I currently use a 1m cable like this, works just fine.
If you need to get even longer extensions there are CSI to HDMI adapters, which uses a standard HDMI cable, which should work for several meters.

Re: HQ cam: convert raspividyuv output to still images ?

For ffmpeg it is quite easy. ffmpeg -pixel_format yuv420p -video_size 4064x3040 -i test.yuv out%04d.png This will create uncompressed png where each png will be 23MB, yet it is reasonably fast on the pi. I had to increase the gpu_mem to 256 to be able to get raspividyuv to work properly. For convert...

Re: HQ cam: convert raspividyuv output to still images ?

This should be quite similar, I think

Code: Select all

convert -size 4064x3040 -sampling-factor 4:2:0 -depth 8 yuv:test.yuv -colorspace RGB out%04d.png
should work.

(I personally would use ffmpeg for the conversion.)

Re: How Do I Record A Video Between Two Given Dates?

Your while loop is never true, if the start time is bigger then your current time. Therefore, the loop is skipped and the recording will directly be stopped. You need to first check if you want to start recording first, then(while recording) you need to check if it is late enough to stop. While wait...

Re: HQ Camera - raspistill inactive switches

Yes, I did notice the issue in the documentations, too. If you want to have the settings, you need the "-set" switch. Just a note about the timeout: There is also another feature coming, which uses the "-st" switch to speed up long exposure captures, I think this should also speed up capturing image...

Thank you, setting focal length and F-number now works with last rpi-update! raspistill -o test.jpg --exif EXIF.FocalLength=50/1 --exif EXIF.FNumber=8/3 Just as a side note: These values need to be given as fractions, else the FocalLength shows as 0.00mm (it writes for example [50/0] into the exif t...

You are requesting mode 4, which has a fps range from 50.1-120fps. Therefore, maximum exposure time is about 20ms. Try to use mode 3!

Re: HQ Camera - raspistill inactive switches

Love the new HQ. These raspistill switches are useful but I must be doing something wrong because they seem not to have the desired effect: -st -> Nothing happens. Is this output directed to a file somewhere? If you just run raspistill without arguments it will show as: -st, --stats : Force recompu...

With the lens mentioned in my previous post, you would get an image like this(I had to use a tripod, which blocks part of the view, camera only badly alligned...): https://i.imgur.com/YwhG1z0.jpg The sensor was about 15cm away from the surface, maybe a bit less. Re: What camera for 20x20 cm @ 15cm?

Do the 15cm include the camera and lens, too? Then you will be even closer and need a smaller focal length.. You could try to buy the official v2 camera and replace the camera module with something like this (The focal length they mention is not correct, it is more like I would roughly estimate arou...

Re: New raspistill "Figure of Merit (FoM)" feature

The FoM depends on the structure of the captured scene. It basically evaluates gradients and contrasts in the area of interest. It will work best for areas with lots of features. There are many different algorithms which can be used to calculate FoM, I don't know which one the ISP uses. Ofen a Brenn...

The "-md 3" is the crucial parameter here. Without it, raspistill produces 10.2s exposures only.
