Re: Turn Raspberry Pi into a P.L.C (Programable Logic Contro

I am using the demo codesys on Raspi and have added a Arduino to the mix to handle the I/O. Arduino has lots of code already done for most devices. I am using the modbus tcp protocol with the Arduino as a slave. I did run into an issue with Codesys not having CmpIecTask installed in the library. I ...

Re: Have I bought the correct part guys?

Yes, I have one of those very interfaces in use with the GPIO serial port on my Pi: Remember to power it from the +3V terminal on the GPIO port, not the +5V terminal...... Yes, tired that. All working. Thanks! :) I've just configured my 4D Systems Display to run through the USB0 port. Originally it...

Re: Have I bought the correct part guys?

An alternative would be to take control of the Pi's GPIO serial UART and use it as a serial interface: You would need to use an TTL - to - RS232 level converter interface in that case. Thank you for your help Sirius, I think I'm going to go with this option here, and utilise the RPi's UART pins.

Re: Have I bought the correct part guys?

Are you certain the I/O device's port is an RS232 port? Terminals on an RS232 port would normally be labelled something like 'TX', 'RX' and 'GND or 0V'. The terminogy 'DX+' and 'DX-' suggests that it may be using something more like a bidirectional two-wire 'differential pair' interface more along ...

Have I bought the correct part guys?

I'm trying to achieve RS232 communication between my RPi and a Remote IO unit which I've already been sending TCP/IP commands to. The IO device has ports Dx- and Dx+ for RS232. If I use the following by connecting the USB to my Pi and the Tx and Rx wires to my IO unit, will this work? http://www.ama...
