That is impressive uptime.
Mine is also an original 256MB Model B board.

Intiresting poll, what is your uptime
Log into your Raspberry PI, and at the command prompt type "uptime"
Also state what the machines primary purpose is, and current CPU speed.
up 86 days, 3:37
NAS machine running Samba.
Overclocked to 850MHz
Anyone got me beat?

My Pi-NAS project
I decided a while back to try running a Raspberry Pi as a NAS. I had an old laptop serving files out to a hacked Apple TV (Gen2), I figured this had to be eating up a lot of power, so I decided to try a PI. Success. (In my opinion.) I have seen 10MB/Sec upload speeds, which is pretty close to the th...

Re: Gert Board Discontinued?
Open the envelope, pull out the box, Open the box....... No Gertboard... Raspberry PI. So I am now probably the only person who has ever been disappointed to receive a Raspberry PI. ... no there are others .... who have posted here.... Surprise today, another box delivered by UPS. My Gertboard, and...

Re: Gert Board Discontinued?
I ordered the gertboard as soon as it became available. Waited and waited then waited some more. Finally got that joyful email telling me my gertboard had been shipped. The following day UPS showed up at my work with an envelope for me. Joy, Rapture, Ecstasy. Open the envelope, pull out the box, Ope...

I am afraid that is about as far as I got.diveroli wrote:FlightGear:
It looks as if the available version we are installing in the RPi is not GLE compatible.
Any ideas?

I believe someone with some programming skill will be needed to sort this out.

Re: Flight sim?
Thanks for the suggestion about FlightGear. Installed. Cannot run it, cannot find the command. Whether from console or from LXDE, there is an error: no flightgear command. Guess for some reason it is hidden in some folder. Would be pleased to know the full command to start Flightgear once installed...

Re: Raspbian on Raspberry Pi Front Page
Yes, myself mpthompson, plugwash and other Foundation members are all in frequent contact. The first 'Foundation' Raspbian release will be pretty much the same as the armel wheezy release I put out recently I doubt I am alone in thinking this is great news. Let me also be among the first to thank a...

Re: Raspbian on Raspberry Pi Front Page
asb and mpthompson, are bot posting to this. Can we take this to mean you fine gents are working together on this? I hope so, because from experimenting with both Debian and Raspbian I find that both have significant areas where one is better than the other. I doubt anyone would disagree that the sp...

Re: Overclocking
OK, I am old. Get over it. Way back in the olden days I recall that you needed the CPU speed to be a multiple of the RAM speed, or some very strange things could happen, and you got the most performance boost this way. From reading this thread it seems that theses two speeds are not connected in any...

I got flightgear to install with:
'sudo apt-get install flightgear'
I have not got it to start up yet.
For anyone wanting to try it, I believe you need to 'startx' first.

Re: Help test the next Debian image (wheezy)
Sorry, I'm a bit confused about rpi-update! Does it run on the Wheezy image? If I understand correctly, you don't need to rpi-update on the Wheezy image because it has been changed. If you want the firmware updates: edit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/raspi.list so it contains: deb http://asbradbury.org/t...

Dosbox. What have you got running.
So far I have got running:
Starflight 2
Space Quest 3
Sound is a bit scratchy, but quite useable.
I would have done more, but every time I get something working I end up playing.

Flight sim? [obsolete thread]
Has anyone got any flight sim to run on the Raspberry?
I think it would be a blast to fly using my big screen TV as the display.
I know flightgear is probably too resource hungry for the Raspberry PI, but surely there is a less resource hungry flight sim?

Any other Canadian west coasters out there?
I see from the Raspberry PI tracker that there are a few around the lower mainland.
It might be fun to get together and show off what we have done with this little beast.
