Re: USB-MSD boot EEPROM update - 2020-05-28

HI, Would the new firmware have altered the EMC characteristics of the Pi, would it be possible for it to produce more emissions after the update ? The reason I ask is the Echo Dot that has sat happily next to the Pi4 for 6 months or so lost it's internet connection yesterday, seemingly at the same ...

Re: Steps for Configuring Mate Desktop on 4GB Raspberry Pi 4B - (Rev.7)

Hi,

The guide did cover the WiFi region issue, the below works for me...

Code: Select all

sudo nano /etc/default/crda
In this file, add the region code to the following string:

REGDOMAIN=
So, the string should look like this:

Code: Select all

REGDOMAIN=US

Re: LTR-559 light and proximity sensor

Well I have been trying to add LTR501 & 559 support to the Pi as you know. I compiled the kernel with the driver support last night, and I was under the impression that I had to now recompile the i2c-sensor overlay to include these two devices, that is what I have been trying to do this afternoon.. ...

I'm confused now.....

So by enabling the driver will the i2c-sensor overlay be populated with the LTR559 fragment ?

Sorry I'm conscious I'm taking up a lot of your time Phill...

Re: LTR-559 light and proximity sensor

Hi, Is there a simpler guide to compiling the overlays than the official one, to be honest most of it is going over my head ? This is how I though I was going to approach it. Obtain the source for i2c-sensor.dtbo, append my two fragments and re-compile, however... I cant find the source, so instead ...

OK, the kernel is built and installed, I'll have a go at compiling the overlay tomorrow, see how I go with that.

Thanks again...

OK is it just a case of creating a default .config and then editing it to change the localversion and add CONFIG_LTR501=m ? Seemed too easy :)

Re: LTR-559 light and proximity sensor

Hi Phill, As always, thanks for the really speedy reply, appreciated. To be honest I wasn't aware that driver wasn't actually built into the kernel, I saw the source in the tree and foolishly thought it would be there, assumption and all that... I've not got an issue with building a kernel, I've don...

LTR-559 light and proximity sensor

Hi, Would it be possible to get a light and proximity sensor (LTR-559) added to the i2c-sensor overlay, there appears to be a driver for it in the kernel (linux/drivers/iio/light/ltr501.c), the driver is for a LTR501 but it looks like it is compatible with the LTR559. The datasheet is here https://o...

Hi,

You are mixing commands, it should be.

sudo apt install git

And then when that's installed,

git clone <the git address>

Hi James, Sorry I did a search and do catch up reasonably often here but I must have missed it. Thanks for the detailed reply, appreciated, it is what it is I suppose. Below are some condensed steps, you can refer to the original guide for the decent explanations of what each does. Bluetooth seems to work out the box with Cinnamon, not sure about the other p...

Re: [Request] PiZeroCombined.tar.gz - OTG Modules for Zero W

Hi,

They are old instructions you don't need this anymore, the modules are now built into the kernel.

You should only need to edit the config files. If I get on the PC today I'll post the notes I made for my reference.

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I've had minimal issues running this on my ZeroW, I think I was over 90 days uptime when I had to shutdown because of moving house this earlier month. Like Ras07 said, marginal power can cause issues that are not immediately apparent, especially if you are running headless, when I fired up after mov...

Hi, I’ve seen something strange with my Pi 4 and the WLAN MAC address. I use IP address reservation on my router to provide static addresses to connected devices. Re: VLI firmware v2.0 - powersaving features enabled

Hi, Not sure if I understand why my first flash was unsuccessful but the second attempt worked. The issue wasn't a result of the flashing process, post flash a power cycle would be successful, reboot not. Its moot for me really as it's all working, however two people here had similar if not the same...
