Re: Running jar files returns nothing?

OK, I'm a little rusty with my java skills but I finally tried running the startup command with "-verbose" and I see it's loading the classes for the jar, but it's just taking ages to do it. The output looks like this: [snip] [Loaded clojure.lang.LispReader$RegexReader from file:/opt/metabase/metaba...

Running jar files returns nothing?

I'm having a very odd issue on my Pi. First off, I'm running a Raspberry Pi 3 B. OS version: Linux 4.9.28-v7+ #998 SMP Mon May 15 16:55:39 BST 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux Java version: openjdk version "1.8.0_40-internal" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_40-internal-b04) OpenJDK Zero VM (build 25.4...

Re: Controlled Shutdown at Power Failure

Interested to see how this turns out. I did a very simple solution with mine using a Nicad battery backup and a script that checks periodically for a USB device. If the device no longer responds the battery backup has dipped to near dead voltage and the script sends a shutdown. Not as elegant as wha...

Re: U9 USB MicroMic driver?

To answer my own question I had to select the correct device number with amixer. The USB audio device shows up as device 1 so the amixer command is

amixer -c1 controls

This lists the available controls and allows you to set their levels, turn them on and off etc.

Hope this helps someone else!

U9 USB MicroMic driver?

I picked up a U9 USB MicroMic hoping that the OS would pick it up. Unfortunately it does not appear that there is a native driver that will support it going by the result of amixer: numid=3,iface=MIXER,name='PCM Playback Route' ; type=INTEGER,access=rw------,values=1,min=0,max=2,step=0 : values=0 nu...

Re: New user - a couple of questions

Thanks for that. The little battery pack looks promising if it will pass AC power while it is charging. I can't quite make out if that's possible, or if it actually uses the USB port on the battery pack to charge the battery which would be a problem. I'll read up more and see what I can find. How fa...

New user - a couple of questions

Hi all. New to the Raspberry Pi. I'm looking at using this hardware for a project we are scoping out. The requirements are: 1) Must have wireless network capability (I can cover this with a small wireless USB interface - just need to confirm what is complatible) 2) must have a small microphone. I se...
