Re: Get rid of getty

I had already tried raspi-config disabling the console but that never worked.

I tried disabling the service but that didn't work either.

I've resorted to sticking

systemctl stop serial-getty@ttyAMA0.service

in my .bashrc file.

Thanks,
James

Get rid of getty

Hello,
I have a serial setup with ser2net everything works fine but everytime I reboot I have to logon and run this command:

systemctl stop serial-getty@ttyAMA0.service

can't I just get rid of getty? I don't need it, I think...

sudo apt-get remove getty

says no package found...

Thank you,
James

raspbian vs openelec issue

Hello everyone, I have recently bought a raspberry pi 2 (I already own 2 raspberry pi's used as sql and web servers), I wanted to make a media center project with my new raspberry pi 2. I proceeded to installing the openelec image and found it ran HD videos very smoothly, but I couldn't install 3rd ...

Re: Boots if I try 10-15 times..

Funilly enough the non-working SD is the same as the working SD except for size (one 16GB, the other 4GB)... It has worked for over a year on at all times and has suffered power loss more than once so I spose it's done it's job up till now... It's an official raspberry SD card so it should be ok... ...

Re: Boots if I try 10-15 times..

Unfortunatly I found out about the problem running rpi-update and apt-get update/upgrade and then rebooting into the problem :( Oh if I use one of my SDs from one of my other PIs I get no problems... Anyone know of tools I can check my filesystem with? If I change SD should I get something in partic...

Boots if I try 10-15 times..

Hi Everyone, One of my raspberry pi's is playing up a little. I need to boot it (unplug and plug in again) about 10-15 times before I can get it to boot. When it doesn't boot I get this: [....] checking file system...fsck from util-linux 2.20.1 done. [....] Mounting local filesystems... [ 32.814413]...

Re: How to tell if A or B

This explains it :) Didn't realize Model B used to come in 256MB that's why I couldn't understand what was going on. Revision: 0002 in fact I was one of the first to order at the time :) I've already ordered a newer one, just waiting for it be delivered. I will then be splitting the duties between t...

Power 4 PIs

Hi,
Quick question. Would a powered 4 port USB hub be enough to power 4 PIs? I think most USB hubs have a 2A supply.

Thanks,
James

Re: Apache, MySQL, PHP, SVN

Thanks for your input. I was also thinking on doing a little load balancing project, organized like this: A model - load balancer B model - WebServer1 B model - WebServer2 One thing isn't clear to me in load blancing: do I have to duplicate the source files of the website on WebServer1 and 2? Thanks...

Re: Best Web Server?

you need to add a dns record in your router (most routers won't allow this). My router for example doesn't allow me so i internally use the ip address, externally i have no-ip.biz address setup and my router setup to route anything on port 80 or 443 or 22 to my raspberrypi ip address. Obviously this...
