Re: Bash: The: command not found

Ok... I've had a look at this properly now. This is my solution #!/bin/bash # DL the right line and delete the beginning of the string var=`curl www.raspberrypi.org | grep Tip | cut -c 59-` # Number of remaining characters nbCarac=`echo ${#var}` # I need to delete the last 2 characters let "carac = ...

Re: Bash: The: command not found

Your script is trying to run a program called "The" which doesn't exist in the UNIX/Linux OS unless you've created it.

line 20 should read:
echo "$final" >> tips.txt

I have no Idea if NoFlow can do this or if it is planned.
Good thought

No it does not. It generates JavaScript.
Ok, my mistake, but it doesn't alter the fact. It's still sequential code.

Re: Brand New Graphical Development System

It's certainly not a new idea. IBM were working on a system in the 70s. The biggest problem at the time was that their implementation was too slow to be usable. BUT.... what they were doing (like the NoFlo system) was trying to make it generate code. What I realised a long time ago, was that trying ...

Re: Brand New Graphical Development System

Here's a test: assuming your system is complete right now, could you draw a chart (or whatever graphical language you invent) to describe your system itself? In other words, can it be used to write itself? Think Gantt chart ;) This is a sample drawing. It's not a good example, but the only one I ha...

Re: Brand New Graphical Development System

It isn't clear what this 'Brand New Graphical Development System'. is. What do you have, NuIotaChi? It's graphical, but you haven't shown us any graphics. It executes commandlines? It doesn't produce compilable code? What can it do? Show us something. Scratch can do some quite complex things yet yo...

Re: Brand New Graphical Development System

Hey, Nulotachi, I´m wondering.... why is it so difficult to run it under Windows? It's the calling convention that screws it up, and it's not just Windows. The system is extremely multi-threaded which is a total PITA when it comes to dealing with nested calls and stacks all over the place. My solut...

Well..... thanks for all the encouragement guys. So what you're saying is that no-one needs it and that I should give up? “What can one expect from a few wretched wires?".... about telegraphy "This 'telephone' device is of no value." "Radio waves have no practical application." "Cellular telephony i...

Anyway... to argue about whether or not I would make miwwions from this wasn't the purpose of the initial post.

There are people out there who spend an awful lot of time creating free software. How do they manage to monetise it?

Re: Brand New Graphical Development System

What I meant by shell level was that it will not compile library function calls directly into the code, but rather execute separate programs. Each library will be a separate program with the required function as an argument (together with the other arguments) all memory objects will just be files in...

Brand New Graphical Development System

Hi guys, I'm looking for feedback and suggestions, about how to proceed with my project. A bit of history for those who may be interested.... if not, then skip this bit ;) Eleven years ago, I started work on an idea for a graphical programming system. I worked consistently on it for four years. Then...

Re: Atari RISC Workstation

Very good work. I am impressed. I am ATARI fan, and want to insert raspberry into old ATARI 800XL box. Do you know any web resources about it? I'm sure it's doable. The only real difficulty would be the keyboard. You'd have to find an old USB keyboard (not the capacitive type) and work out the keyb...

Re: All in One

will you build these for other people? With the hours of work that went into creating that one, I don't think it would be financially viable :D However... a local computer shop and Raspi bits producer & supplier has shown a glimmer of interest in the possibilities of manufacture. I think it all com...

The keyboard is USB. One port plugs into the keyboard, the other goes to the hub.

Re: All in One

Thanks guys :)

Yes, there's plenty of space to put some AAs. It would require regulation, but it's possible.... though I fail to see the benefit, it still requires an external screen.

All in One

I've just finished this little project. It started as an attempt to put a Pi inside a keyboard with a built in trackpad. I found a likely candidate from CPC for £14. However, though it's published depth was 28mm, it wasn't. So, the next thing was to design and build a box that would accept the Pi an...
