red light stays on constantly so no issue there, problem is the card im using is 16gb my other is 8gb so though i can image it i wont be able to fit the 16gb one onto the 8gb, the idea of re-configuring sonarr/deluged/plex is a terrorfying thing lol would have to wait till i had a day off....though ...

What are the risks of updating the whole system to Jessie (I'm thinking I can make a SD card image back up first so if it all goes wrong I'm fine but well maybe there's firmware issues or something ) Following guides I have compiled other things from source....but that's been guides not figuring it ...

The 'right one' for the RPi is the version in the repositories, which as you found, may be several versions older than what is available for other platforms. You will need to get source files of the newer version (if available), and compile it yourself, or wait for someone to put the newer version ...

You cannot expect more than about 10 MegaBytes per second on a 100 MBit ethernet interface. true but this is a pi 2 only released this month, i very much doubt it will have such an old port (does the pi 1 only have 100mbit ethernet port? didnt think it was that old) A short view into the specs woul...

OK ;-p just asking to be sure... on the RPi do a wget of a [large] file and see what sort of speeds you get does dmesg say anything of interest will try that in 30 mins :( its copying a large file across at the minute so wouldnt be a fair test dmesg ? im still rather new to the pi i confess i dont ...

how are you measuring ? how are you downloading ? are you getting your bits and bytes confused? The download speed is measured by nzbget (been using it on my laptop for about a month and now on the pi) the transfer speeds are being reported by filezilla nope not getting bits and bytes confused ther...

ok so many many hours later i had the raspberry reset i finally got it to mount my external hd on boot (man thats way harder then it should be) i had plex server installed and working i had samba installed and working i had ftp installed and working i was feeling good i then installed nzbget followi...

couldnt get the program to regonise the drive, but using ext2explorer i was able to retrieve the fstab file....just not be able to put it back, spent all day getting the stuff i need and configuring it so im thinking chalk this up as a learning experience and try again. im also not sure its the fsta...

it wont boot with the usb drive unpluged either, but it does regonise if usb devices are pluged in or unpluged while it is stuck at that stage

im really at a loss, must be some way to fix ? a pi equivelent to windows restore or safemode?

with out the server the plex clients will not be able to see the media on the pi
