Re: Compute Module 4 / IO Board XRDP no keyboard / mouse working

You should be able to USBboot into MSD mode and edit the config.txt.
I found this enables the CM4 I/O boards USB 2 port

Code: Select all

[cm4]
otg_mode=1

Re: Dual Raspberry Pi Official Displays

what I know: no!
Software or hardware issue?
Software could get patched, harder to patch hardware.

Maybe those next Pi displays can do two?
A big one and a little one?

Re: Power budget for CM4

Figure I have heard are 15W for max on the Pi4 and 9Watts for the Pi4 without external things plugged in. 9W is 1.8amps. 1.4A for the CM4 itself sounds about right. More if you put big heatsink and start overclocking? 2A maximum would be safe? I use little 2A 5V switch mode TO-220 linear regulator r...

little display market
Use a Zero for bigger ones, that has the ram needed.

I was thinking more those little watch type display.
Pico VGA/HDMI need to be overclocked too.
But not everything needs video fps.

Have not tried this for auto detect/mount USB https://github.com/ultibohub/Examples/tree/master/VideoCoreIV/HelloPi/HelloVideo It is even works on an old model A. Because it boots in about 2 seconds you could have some sort of USB detector power switch. It's not Linux so nasty things won't work or v...

Re: Stable OS for pi 400

I don't use OS picking distributions like Berryboot etc Too confusing for me. Just use the default Raspberry Pi 32bit OS. If you need LibreOffice and games preinstalled, put the big one on a 32GB minimum Sandisk A1 uSD card. If you want a minimal Desktop OS grab the smaller one, a 16GB uSD is ok for...

Re: Pico as USB display?

Anyone going commercial with USB products will/should know about USB PID/VID licensing. Hobbyists can just use the Pico or Zero USB PID/VID? At what point does a hobby become a commercial business? Perhaps RPT will have a PID/VID number for displays too. That makes sense for them. It looks like RPT ...

Sure would be nice if RPF had some direct connect DSI displays.
Seems a shame to waste those two on the CM4 I/O board and the single one on the PI4 boards.
.
Has anyone got DSI displays working without using a converter chip?

Re: another way of powering the Pi 4B

Been powering Pi's from the 5V/Gnd pins on the headers since they first came out.
Using both 5V pins and more than 1 gnd pin is a good idea with the higher current Pi4.

Not sure what the current rating on those headers are.
I would be surprised if they are 3Amps each pin.

Why not just stick a Pi there and use 1Gbs Ethernet?
Jeff Geerling is getting 2.5Gbs with CM4 solutions.
The CM4 maxes out at about 3.5Gbs.

Nice to see this back ported.
Debian 11 is looking to be 5.10 so we won't get 5.13 or 5.14 which has this in it.

There is an 8 oolour, 3 bit reflective 640 x 480 front lit and for daylight displays.
