Re: Error with Graphics Engine

In the end it was a pixel format issue that caused the 1920x1080x24bit interface to collapse, now fixed (I forgot to mention it was running via TightVNC) The command I am using is /usr/bin/vncserver :0 -geometry 1920x1080 -depth 24 where the following failed /usr/bin/vncserver :0 -geometry 1920x1080...

Error with Graphics Engine

Hi everyone, I am working with a RasPi as a server and decided that i needed a graphical interface, however when I started trying to run one i got the following error: lxpanel: /build/cairo-5S07OM/cairo-1.12.2/src/cairo-xlib-surface.c:1061: _cairo_xlib_surface_draw_image: Assertion `ret' failed. It just arrived!

And from what I can tell (without turning it on yet) it is a Rev2.0 with 512mb ram (K4P4G324EB) :)

Re: RS & Allied Update #4 (10th Oct)

I sent in a query requesting a tracking number because my delivery had passed the 21 days expected delivery time and the reply I received was as follows: Hi, I apologise for the delivery problems you are experiencing. Can i ask you to please send us a revised address and we will ensure that your ord...

Re: RS & Allied Update #4 (10th Oct)

I am still waiting for my 'dispatched' 085xxx order to arrive, but without the tracking ID it is a bit hard to work out where it is

I am sure that Rs is doing their best to handle the 10,000+% over-interest in the RasPi but it doesn't make the waiting any easier :(

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

Personally I didn't cancel my RS order because I decided to just wait it out, I have already got 3 RasPi's from E14 and the additional one is simply icing. So for me it was easier to wait for RS to finally get around to doing the delivery and whenever it turned up I get a nice surprise (assuming tha...

Re: Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

My RS RasPi is finally being dispatched! Yay (Order #85xxx) but RS just got worse.

I received 2 emails about the RasPi being dispatched, and one of them was for someone else. This is NOT GOOD on their part!

(and apparently it is another 21 days because I live outside of the UK)

Re: Latest Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

I REALLY hope that mine is dispatched at the same time! (85xxx)

I am still trying to work out how so many orders were 'misplaced' however RS is probably trying to work out the same thing :)

Re: How to Turn Off Monitor/backlight (not black screen)

This works for turning the HDMI/Composite outputs off, but what about turning them back on?

The only way I have been able to get the monitor to come back on is by rebooting the RasPi :(

Or you could use the win32DiskImager to read an image of the SD Card and save that image somewhere :)

Re: Video guide to using a 2x16 LCC

Nice, I have the 20x4 version of that screen, and am part way through setting it up. I have breadboard tested it and it works, unfortunately I am using python (Code here) not C for my programming though. Can your module be compiled in such a way as to function with other programming languages? (and ...

Re: Latest Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

My personal issue is more the lack of response from RS, I understand that they seem to have been caught flat-footed by the level of interest. However losing a bunch of orders (mine is in the 83xxx range), not responding to emails (even to say our supplier of CPU's is out of stock, 10 days, still wai...

Hardware Whoops and a lesson learned

I was playing with my RasPi and had successfully gotten an external LCD (20x4) working on a breadboard. The next step was to transfer it form the Breadboard to a circuit board, this is where I messed up, I was not paying as much attention as I should have and wired it mirror image & backwards (spect...

The basics is a personal Library, Webcomic review list, small forum etc.

I am trying to avoid SQLite because I am not 100% happy witht he management of it, MySQL looks like it may be the way to go, phpMyAdmin makes it easy to update.

Re: remote access to a Raspberry Pi Computer without router

You can do this, however you will need either:
A DHCP server on your Windows Computer Like
A Static IP Address configured on the RasPi

Once you know the IPAddress you can link in via SSH formt he Windows PC

PHP-MYSQL server to RasPi

Hi All, I currently have a x86 Virtual machine LAMP server that I am using to host my phone intranet, I want to shift it over to the RasPi, but I tihnk that Apache2 & MySQL may be a bit heavy-handed for the RasPi, any suggestions on alternatives (I am thinking of replacing Apache with Lighttpd) Func...

Re: LibreOffice not installing on Wheezy

That is the same as the result I got, I think that there is a package missing from the repo that means that you cannot install LibreOffice at the moment, if you head over to the 'package request' thread you should be able to request either the LibreOffice and/or LibreOffice-base packages to be added.

Re: LibreOffice not installing on Wheezy

I did a forum search and it appears that yes people have been able to get it working using apt-get, however when I do a search I didn't see the LibreOffice-base app, which could be an issue!

Code: Select all

apt-cache search libreoffice

Had a look at the website and it looks like it doens't support ARM (pre-built) I have no idea if it will build from srouce though (which is available) Pentium-compatible PC (Pentium III, Athlon or more-recent system recommended); http://www.libreoffice.org/download/system-requirements/ http://www.li...

That case looks awesome  , if it is possible to get the price down (so that it at least only costs at much as the Pi itself) I would buy one for my webserver (which s sitting in the Kitchen next to my Router.

congratulations on producing something that looks so good :geek:

Re: IDEA: reset button with watchdog

I am also interested in this, how would you configure the interrupt on the GPIO line?

I have already got a script that loops and polls the GPIO, but that is CPU intensive and not the best solution. :)
