Aperio RPi HAT

http://aperio.xyz/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/Aperio-Capabilities.jpg The RaspberryPi is a low cost Single Board Computer (SBC) with available connections for General Purpose Input Output (GPIO) signals to sensors, relays, etc. But the RaspberryPi is limited to 3.3vdc signals, which is a serious lim...

I have since switched to using the official touchscreen of the RPI foundation. Have not looked at other touchscreens in a long time. Sorry.

I'm using sainsmart 4 and 8 channel relay modules. They include optoisolation and can be connected to the Pi via ribbon cable or individual wires.

Am I the only one who feels the matchbox-keyboard is too small or are the rest of you using a different virtual keyboard?

Matchbox-keyboard key size

I have the official RPi display/touchscreen and have installed matchbox-keyboard (apt-get install matchbox-keyboard). I find the buttons rather small and hard to use. I've already edited the XML file and removed the home, end, etc keys from the far right side which made the keys wider but I'd also l...

Re: Touch Screen and pop up keyboard

I would be interested in alternatives as the virtual keyboard I use is rather small when used on the official RPi touchscreen. Or at least interested in seeing the xml file of those that have altered it for larger keys on the RPi display. But I use matchbox-keyboard. You can launch it as a daemon du...

Re: Industrial application w/ Touch

Do you refer to the display or are you referring to RPi OS (SD Card) becoming corrupted? My application includes battery backup with safe shutdown on power loss. If you refer to the screen then would you mind linking me to the thread discussing the issue? On a side note, can anyone confirm the input...

Re: Industrial application w/ Touch

Thank you, I think I will try this option using the HDMI cable + adapter boards. I will report back my findings. I believe the CSI and DSI interfaces use the same number of pins, but I'm not sure if the data pairs match up according to the early B schematics the data pairs use the same pins. If they...

Re: Industrial application w/ Touch

Any idea where one buys this HDMI adapter? I did find something for the CSI port (should work for DSI?) that converts from flex to ribbon cable with IDC connectors which would allow me to use shielded round ribbon cable. http://www.bitwizard.nl/shop/raspberry- ... -extension

Industrial application w/ Touch

Have been using RPi in the products my company builds for some time now and anxiously awaited the arrival of the RPi official touchscreen. Now that it is available I've started to question if it is suitable for industrial applications. In my application the screen would need to be mounted away from ...

What is the maximum length that the DSI ribbon cable can be?

For my application, I would like to mount the RPi about 5 - 10 feet away from the touchscreen.

Re: Touchscreens for Raspberry Pi

The Dell E2014T (19.5 inch HDMI/USB Touchscreen) is getting harder to locate. Anyone using a more readily available touchscreen that is plug and play, HDMI video and USB touch? Anything larger than 15" is OK but prefer 19 - 22".

Re: Dell S2240T touch screen not working

Try setting resolution to 1920 x 1080 (native resolution). I had a similar issue with the Dell E2014T which is a similar touch screen. If you use alternate resolutions then the cursor and touch points don't seem to match up. Once I did this (and believe I disabled overscan) it got pretty accurate.

Re: When you need more power - how to be safe?

First, for LED you want a constant current driver or power supply. I think what you are looking for is IP68 rated enclosure. Perhaps something like this:

Re: Other Sensors, Higher Resolution

This is an industrial application, I am already building a few proprietary boards (including a HAT) for use with the RPi. I can develop my own board for the image sensors but if I understand correctly, unless it is supported by the GPU it won't work no matter how hard I try. If this is true, how can...

Other Sensors, Higher Resolution

Are there currently or are there plans to support any higher resolution image sensors, maybe the OV10823 or other Omnivision sensors or even other manufacturers? My application could really use something higher than 5mp, ideally something around 40mp but even 8 or 10 is an improvement. I have done *...

Re: Raspberry Pi Relay Board and Light Bulb

50mA max draw for all GPIO pins combined. Assuming your relay draws around 3mA to latch then the RPi can operate 8 relays no problem. If your relay draws 10mA each then you can only drive 5. There are ways to get around this limitation using additional circuitry.
