Re: Will the Pi 2 run Varnish 4?

Trying to locate where I got the incorrect information about AMD64 on the Pi 2 so I can post for others to avoid...it came from a credible enough appearing source. Somehow I came across it while struggling all day with Varnish 4 and googling for assistance.

Will the Pi 2 run Varnish 4?

According to Varnish-cache.org's website, Varnish 4.0 on up requires AMD64 architecture, which I believe the Pi 2 has but not Pi 1. Varnish 3.+ doesn't require AMD64, but 4.0 had some important improvements so I want to upgrade my site from 3.0.2 to 4.0.3 if I can. Could somebody please clarify the ...

Using Varnish Dashboard with Varnish?

Hi all. I've been fiddling with a Varnish 3.0.6 install for awhile now and believe it is working, and very well. But sometimes my pages (http://www.CarLoversJournal.com) display almost instantaneously and sometime with a several seconds wait. I'm trying to zero in on why and in general to monitor Va...

WordPress plugin - EWWW Image Optimizer

Has anybody successfully installed this plugin? It uses jpegtran, optipng, gifsicle and others but I've exhausted all the author's directions for getting those three installed. I've got the linux versions copied into the /wp-content/ewww folder, with www-data ownership and write permission, but the ...

Re: Turn-key WordPress Server Image - PressPi

As to this image: There are a lot of people that just do not have the time to start from zero and get a WordPress site up and running. So this image allows them to use a Raspberry Pi and they will still learn something from doing it. Installing WordPress on a RasPi is not as easy as installing it i...

Re: Apt-get install php5 problems

"Mystery" resolved. I had typed "apt-get install" instead of "apt-get update". It said nothing to install. Then I did "apt-get upgrade", which said nothing to install or upgrade. My apologies however for the miscue. It had been tooo long of a day.... I was awakened at 5am by the loud chanting...

Re: Apt-get install php5 problems

Uh, I'm not that much of a noobie. That was the first thing I did, then repeated twice. I have in my SSH log if you don't believe me. However I repeated the apt-get update now and the install worked. Maybe there is an apt-get update lag across the big pond on the way to Thailand?

Re: HOWTO: Move the filesystem to a USB stick

Not NOOBS on my SD, in fact I noticed there was a new Raspbian image released on the 24th so I loaded that and did everything one more time from scratch. Got the same nasty warning. (I think the first time somehow I hadn't cleared the partition table from previous work, but this time I totally refor...

NextGEN Gallery WP plugin not uploading photos

Hi all. Anybody else having problems with the WordPress plugin NextGEN Gallery v2.0? Haven't used it in awhile, it worked fine before, but now I am getting "0 photos uploaded" every time I try to add to a gallery. I notice from Googling that this has been a recurrent problem at least since 2013. Any...

Re: Problems using flash drive for SD backup/restore

Thanks for the reply RaTTuS. I've read many of your posts and you definitely know your stuff. Interestingly, hwtest 1.4 consistently showed no errors on two SDs, the other wasn't even detected by the system in the SD port so it is clearly shot. Looking forward to doing further testing with rsync, th...

Re: Problems using flash drive for SD backup/restore

Update: Ok, here is what has been going on. Hash comparisons always showed valid copies. Turns out after much testing, I have determined 3 of my 6 Sony class 10 SDs (full size UHS-1 R40 Memory Card (SF8UY/TQMN) /s ) are flaky! :x Good bye Sony! I'm sending them back to Amazon (an authorized Sony dea...

Re: Problems using flash drive for SD backup/restore

That's a good idea, that will isolate the problem. I'll update when I can do some testing. I believe it is a software issue involving block sizes or buffering which affects the image file. BTW, file sizes match, but I haven't done the hash test yet. Chances are they will fail. If not, the mystery wi...

Problems using flash drive for SD backup/restore

I've been fighting some bizarre problems as of late which perhaps somebody can shed some light on. I am configuring various web servers on my Pi, trying to decide which will give me the best response given several usage scenarios. I started some months ago doing Apache2 and Lighttpd installs with Wo...

Hey R1, I was going to try Monkey too but hesitated because it didn't appear to be actively supported or well documented. I may yet try it. I have some time to burn at present. So tell me/us about Monkey - like it?

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

For starters multiple sites on one RasPi. Since these are new small business setups I expect minimal traffic at first with rare simultaneous usage. At some point if the sites get popular I will use multiple RasPii. I assume this can be done on one router by using different port numbers, right?

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

Well what an ordeal that was! Trying to implement virtual hosting on Lighttpd. Sure enough, the 7 year old "tutorial" was woefully flawed and left me staring at blank white screens when I was lucky, or 403 Forbidden when I was not. So I tried another, then another, getting nowhere except watching my...
