c# mono GUI program freezes after some time

I have a heating controller using the official touchscreen, and it is a winforms application, which I run on a Pi3 fullscreen, and every so often it freezes. I haven't spotted any pattern, sometimes it runs for weeks, sometimes only a few hours. I put in some measures, like a weekly reboot, and a da...

Official touchscreen partially failed

My touchscreen which has been working for a couple of years, used as a controller for our home heating, so the pi is on 24/7, but the screen goes completely off after a timeout. Suddenly it has stopped receiving touch input from the top of the screen, really towards the left. I reseated the cable, i...

Re: Jessie - Blank Screen on a Schedule

How does your script get called? The error seems to indicate that it can’t connect to the display, which either means it doesn’t have the DISPLAY variable set, or x isn’t yet running, or perhaps your user doesn’t have permission.

Give us a little more information please

Re: Case for ssd1306 0.96" OLED display

I had a look, and it seems quite expensive to get someone to print this stuff for you. Any suggestions of well priced online printer?

It still seems like a gap in the market to me, good project boxes - every project ends up in a horrible maplin cube box with screws on the front...

Case for ssd1306 0.96" OLED display

Does anyone have any pointers how to integrate an ssd1306 0.96" OLED display into a case? I find it surprising that no-one sells a nice cheap bit of plastic with a hole just the size for these displays that I can glue onto my case or whatever. Ideally one with a nice piece of thin perspex on the fro...

super, thanks for both those suggestions. I'll do some measuring, you might be right, when you ring the doorbell the voltage may plummet!

Doorbell project - detecting 12-15v AC

Hi I want to augment my existing wired doorbell system with a zero-w, and I want to leave the system as in-tact as possible, so I'd like to detect the voltages are they are. There is about 12v across the switch (which is used to illuminate it), and when you press the switch it rings the bell, so I'd...

Re: Jessie - Blank Screen on a Schedule

That will blank the screen, but the backlight will still be on. For another project I have with the official Raspberry Pi touchscreen, I have written a script to actually turn the backlight off and on, dependent on the xscreensaver state. This one has to run as root, but you can echo a 1 or 0 to a f...

Re: Jessie - Blank Screen on a Schedule

if you simply want to blank it, then xscreensaver is your friend. You can make a small script that does: export DISPLAY=:0.0 xscreensaver-command -activate and run that when you want to turn it off, so add it to your crontab for the user pi crontab -e and the opposite to turn it off export DISPLAY=:...

Re: Jessie - Blank Screen on a Schedule

I do this with tvservice -o and then a weird set of commands to get my screen to come back on again. I take it you mean you want the screen to power off, rather than just go blank? xscreensaver will make it go blank, and there is a power option in there too, but I've never seen that work. To turn my...

connecting to me.ddns.org port 8080 which is forwarded to 192.168.2.31 Does it tell you the forward address, or do you deduce it? If your Pis have short DHCP leases, and renewing the lease is difficult, maybe they stay for a while without an address, or their addresses change? A range extender is n...

By directly connected, do you mean via hard wire or wifi?

LAN connectivity issues

I suspect I am not the only one having this issue, I'd love to understand the reason. I have 3 pis in the house, two are connected to a belkin range extender (wireless) and the other directly to my netgear router. I think it's fair to say that all 3 exhibit intermittent connection issues, not with o...

Re: Visual Studio Code on RPi zero W

Excuse my ignorance, but what does it output? Is it .net runtime binaries? If it is regular .net exe files, then they should run under mono. sudo apt-get install mono-runtime and then if it is something visual you'll need to export DISPLAY=:0.0 then mono application.exe should run your applicaiton. ...

Re: Pi Zero - Brilliant - but,,,

A problem in two parts: "I can only buy One PiZero." @hippy has covered this. There are not enough PiZeros to meet all possible demand. As their attempt to be equitable and allow as many people as possible to experience and benefit from a PiZero as possible the RPF/RPT have asked distributors to ap...

Re: Pi Zero - Brilliant - but,,,

Pi Zeroes simply aren't produced in enough quantity to satisfy demand and the profit margins are so low that it's not easy to produce them in quantities which will satisfy demand any time soon. The Foundation is said to have ramped up production to 50,000 a month but they can't currently produce mo...

Pi Zero - Brilliant - but,,,

I got a pi zero for Christmas, I didn't get one before because I had no project for it, and anyway it looked a bit weird. Anyway, I have to say I'm extremely impressed. This tiny board is now controlling my garage doors, with only a few extra components, and that got me to thinking - at £4 this actu...

I read some tutorial where there was a package that allowed RPi to expose a web page interface allowing you to configure a load of unix stuff through that interface - can anyone tell me the name of it please?

Re: Is there any easy way to speed up apt-get on raspbian?

is it the download time that is long, or the installation? If it is the download only, obviously a caching proxy would be best, as already suggested, however, what I sometimes do is simply copy the contents of the /var/cache/apt/archives/ directory to my newly built pi, and that means it doesnt have...

Since I posted this, I am also trying to get a track bar to work, actually for brightness on the display. My app is in c# mono, and it seems I don't get anything except click events. When I drag across the screen nothing happens at all. I also learned that the multitouch is not supported in X, so we...

me too - seems to be no way around it. My text boxes are only used to display data, as it is a touchscreen app with no keyboard input, so I just replaced them with labels - now the app works properly!

I'd love to hear if anyone has found a proper fix to this!
