Re: QEMU patches for RPi emulation - Initial release

@JacobL my comment about "less successful" with later releases of Raspbian was perhaps unfounded and based on my interpretation of this thread. Reading some of the subsequent messages, seems like I was wrong. Sorry about that. @Torlus, welcome back from vacations. A previous poster had requested GPI...

Re: Installing OS - headlessly (no display device)

Thanks again @aTon and @DeeJay. Got my RaspberryPi working with the latest Raspbian image. The only difference in my previous trials and current is that, earlier I was burning the image on SD-card using "dd" on linux (exactly, as per the instructions on elinux.com site) -- and yes, with the right de...

How to get "@" and "$" characters ?

Hi, Perhaps the Raspbian image ships with a European/UK keyboard/keymap set by default, s.t. "SHIFT-2" prints the -"- character (i.e. double-quotes, not the "@" symbol I was expecting), and SHIFT-3 prints the UK-Pound-currency symbol (not the US-keyboard "#" that I was expecting). What is the way to...

Re: Installing OS - headlessly (no display device)

Thanks @klricks and @aTao. Found what I was looking for here in these links: http://www.tristancollins.me/computing/headless-raspbian-installation/ http://forgetfulprogrammer.wordpress.com/2013/06/03/raspberry-pi-headless-installation/ In summary it is possible. However, quite another matter that, e...

Re: QEMU patches for RPi emulation - Initial release

This thread is very interesting, and lot of great work has been done by Torlus and JacobL. However looks like it went from a phase of greater success in running unmodified Qemu img earlier this year, to it's current form where it is somewhat less successful. Any updates that could be shared ? Of ano...

Installing OS - headlessly (no display device)

Is there a way to do Raspbian (or another distro) installation without any display device attached ? Note that, my question is not about running the OS headless, which I think Pidora already supports (perhaps, even Raspbian), but about the initial installation and configuration. Reason is that I nei...
