Building SD Card Image

Hi all, I have built a modified version of minibian (minimal Raspbian) that contains some config changes and different packages. I want to make a .img file suitable for release. However, I don't want to cause any weird partitioning issues for the end user if they have a different SD card size. I use...

Ubuntu Mate Emergency Mode

Hi all, I recently put Ubuntu Mate on my RPi. It was working fine, but after I installed a few apps and games, it now boots to emergency mode. However, I press Ctrl-D to boot normally and it boots right up, no problem. So what is this and how do I fix it? It is just kind of annoying to deal with eve...

Raspbian TV Tuner

Hi. I want to run a USB TV tuner on Raspbian so I can watch TV on my little RPi field computer. However, the guides I have seen are all for RaspBMC. Does anyone know how to do this, and if so, which usb TV tuner do you recommend?

Problems with USB audio adapter

Hi, I have one of these: http://www.adafruit.com/products/1475 I can get it to output audio just fine. When I try to use the input in a program like Audacity, it does not recognize the capture side of it. However, if I run "arecord | aplay" I can hear a very scratchy version of the audio I am puttin...

Re: Default WiFi Network

Upon rebooting it said "Cannot get status from wpa_supplicant" To make sure I did this right, is it like this:

Code: Select all

preferred_aps="'abcd' 'efgh' 'ijkl'"
Where abcd, efgh, and ijkl are the names of the networks?

Re: Building a Repeater

The Baofeng UV-5R has a feature called VOX, which is voice activated transmit. So if you could get an audio line into the Baofeng, you could make it transmit w/out worrying about wiring. The number for the VOX setting is the sensitivity. I think 10 is most sensitive but I'm not 100% sure.

Default WiFi Network

I have a wireless USB adapter for my Pi and I am having a bit of trouble with it. I have 4 networks saved into it. Previously, the Pi would automatically connect to whichever network was in range. Now it tries to connect to one of the networks until I open wpa_gui and tell it to connect to another n...

Re: WiFi is disabled if LAN is connected

If I recall correctly there is a script in Linux that runs when a network interface is down. You could edit this script to bring down wlan0. However, I'm not sure where this script would be or even if I remember correctly the way that this works.

Tweeting Pictures

I was wondering how you would tweet pictures on the Pi through Python. I can't use Twython for a reason that is too long to go into.

Thanks.

Pi Powered Speakers

Hi.

I know this is a bit much to ask, but I thought it was worth a try. I was wondering if there are any decent speakers that can be powered from the Pi (headphone jack or usb)? Also, another thing, I would like a good price (like $30 or less).

Thanks.

Re: How to measure amps of a solar panel

Check your range on your multimeter. You might have it set too high. Also, are you trying to do this with light bulbs instead of the sun? If you are, leds and cfls won't work as the light must be incandescent, meaning it is heat producing. So if you are going to do this with light bulbs you need the...

Re: How do you enclose an LCD PiPlate with sensor pins?

Douglas6 is right, but this Pi Plate uses the I2C pins, so you might not be able to use those. However, these are the only pins it uses so the others should function normally. I have this same plate and I am very satisfied. It's very easy to assemble and is easy to use. Adafruit has a python library...

Bluetooth Keyboards

Hi, I have a couple of questions about Bluetooth keyboards on the RPi. 1) What is a good Bluetooth adapter to use, and how do I get it to work in Raspbian? 2) Are Bluetooth keyboards "one size fits all" in the sense that they all use a universal driver? 3) Can you set it to autoconnect on boot? 4) H...

If you are doing stuff with GPIO, I suggest one of 2 things.

Write this in Python

OR

Use a Python wrapper and execute sudo python FileName.py

I use a 30W Craftsman. You can pick one up from Sears for around $10. I have had no issue with mine. I love it.

I don't know much about c++, but it probably has some function to run commands. I would call on this method. For example, here's how you would do it in python to take a simple picture:

Code: Select all

system("raspistill -o somefilename.png")

Re: Kodak Photodock Printer Series 3

The print head is one large piece that doesn't move. Unfortunately to look at it though, you have to pull out every single part, therefore you can't look at it while its running. We might have figured it out though, we just haven't had time to test it yet. Thanks.

Hi, We have a Kodak Photodock Printer Series 3 and we have a problem. One side of the picture (about a fourth of it) is blank whenever we print. It does not matter whether we print from a computer or a camera and it does not matter what picture it is. The rest of the picture looks great except for t...
