Re: Slow boot, and slow = minutes!

However, rather than wiping it, you might consider setting up a second card, just on the off chance there's something on the questionable SD card that you need. Thanks. I did that and my boot times are now much more respectable. Good tip about keeping the old card too. There are heaps of things tha...

Slow boot, and slow = minutes!

I'm using a Pi4 B for PiHole DNS and file server. It takes minutes to boot up; around 4 minutes on a reboot or 6+ if it's after power failure/ no proper shutdown. Raspbian 10 Buster. It's systemd-fsck that's taking the time... systemd-analyze blame 3min 59.163s systemd-fsck@dev-disk-by\x2dpartuuid-a...

Re: Pi4 with USB3 SCSI drive problem

I can change the cable, yes, but I'm using the one supplied with the drive and it works with my laptop. It has a funky connector at the drive end (not seen one before) so getting a replacement might be an online purchase.

Re: Pi4 with USB3 SCSI drive problem

https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=245931 Thanks, I'd seen that yesterday and made the recommended charges but they sadly didn't change anything. That's why I posted this new thread. In short, the 'quirk' is recognised but UAS is not blacklisted... but that might be correct as ...

Re: Pi4 with USB3 SCSI drive problem

I have another SCSI drive so, out of interest, I put that in a USB case and plugged it into the Pi4. Same thing; quite happy in USB2 but not so in USB3. Another drive I have, a pucker 160GB SSD drive, is instantly recognised and working well on the Pi USB3. So something to do with SCSI drives then? ...

[SOLVED] Pi4 with USB3 SCSI drive problem

My Toshiba USB3 SCSI drive worked ok, albeit slowly, on my previous Pi. With the Pi4, I was hoping to unleash full power of USB3. Not so, in fact it performs more slowly and grinds the Pi4 to a halt. It runs happily (slowly) connected to a USB2 port btw. The sticky (https://www.raspberrypi.org/forum...

Thanks, that's given me something to go on. Mine's a SCSI drive and I don't know whether that changes things. I've started a new thread.

Re: AData SD600 ssd not working on USB 3 ports

I think I'm seeing the same problem with my Toshiba drive - in that the symptoms sound the same. It's performance when connected on a USB2 port is as expected (that is, same as the older Pi it replaced) But I face problems when it is connected to USB3 port - I can mount the drive ok, it's recognisab...

Re: ntfs-3g "unknown filesystem" after update

Thanks for the comments Martin. I created a new ntfs partition on one of the USB disks and was able to mount that no problems (without the -t option). I was also able to auto-mount it via fstab. So, I recreated the partitions on the disks and all is fine now. I've no idea what happened, or why those...

ntfs-3g "unknown filesystem" after update

Hello all, I've had drives mounted to my Pi as ntfs, all working fine for many months. After a raspbian update this morning, they will no longer mount. I've commented the auto-mount out of my fstab... #/dev/sda1 /mnt/a ntfs-3g user,rw,auto,umask=0000 0 2 #/dev/sda2 /mnt/b ntfs-3g user,rw,auto,umask=...

Re: Network drive on fstab does not mount on start-up

I had the same problem with a recent project; network drives would not mount from fstab. Even in a script started at startup (init.d) they wouldn't. Running the script manually (after boot up) worked. As did, as you say, mount -a (when I had the mount in the fstab) Searching the web suggested what w...

Re: /etc/network/interfaces changed,weird 2 LAN IPs instead

Many many thanks to the people contributing to this thread (paulv especially, & Dougie) I'd been ripping out what's left of my hair trying to get to the bottom of this '2 IP address' problem. I blamed my router to begin with because, as far as I knew, I was doing things correctly adding my static ad...

Re: Raspberry Pi Won't Boot, Red Power Light Only

Thanks to all for comments on this thread as they have enabled me to resolve my 'red light, no boot' problem. I'll cut to the chase; after cleaning the contacts on the card holder and changing the card adaptor (my install is on a 4gb micro card), my Pi booted happily again. Some more details; it loo...

ALL files are a problem, regardless of format!

My feeling is that it's something to do with the negotiation between the Pi and TV.

HDMI audio problem

Audio over HDMI is choppy, cutting in and out with each new media file played. Analog is fine. I use Raspbmc/XBMC but have replicated the problem on OpenElec too. It can be resolved by flicking the TV to any other source then back to HDMI. Fine for movies etc, not convenient for a music player. Some...

Same here. And pretty much all the same thickness. I was hoping for something shorter and more flexible. I'm now wondering if I can build my own??

I'm not sure what you mean by "mount it th(r)ough". Looking at the mounting arm I have, I don't think I could use it and that Pi case on the same VESA mount.

Need a case and HDMI cable

Hello all, I've been enjoying my Pi for many months now, used as a media centre running XBMC. I've now got it to a more-or-less stable state and want to mount it on the back of my TV (the VESA mount is already is use). I currently have the standard plastic Pi case (which is not the best tbh, imo) Ca...
