Re: Problem with WIFI on latest full raspbian

Here is /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf: ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev update_config=1 country=US network={ ssid="BayerBuiltGuest" psk="********" key_mgmt=WPA-PSK } Sorry for the delay. Work and all. Are there others? I had yet to change the hostname, this was before the system wa...

Problem with WIFI on latest full raspbian

Hi I'm Curt Wuollet and I do automation and digital signage on the Pi. Got a new Pi (a batch actually) and wanted to use the latest full raspbian 2019-04-08. Everything went fine until I set up wifi, this is before anything, it's just before updating the O.S. Set it to a working network and the upda...

Thanks
we'll give it a try. I don't get a lot of time to work with this, but, we'll see.

Re: serial port in jessie

Late Breaking News!!! After pulling out most of my remaining hair, I hit on the plan to replace the pi I had mounted on the display with one whose serial port has been working. This even though the one on the display was fresh out of the box from Element 14. Voila! I was apparently sent a pi that ha...

Re: serial port in jessie

Not so fast! I did get Wheezy back and, lo and behold, the serial port _doesn't_ work. OK, now it's personal.... So, I dug back into my "terminal box" goodies from when green screens were the rage. I hooked up a datascope and found out what's ailing the thing. When I fire up minicom, or even when I ...

Re: serial port in jessie

Thanks all, but I believe I've solved the problem another way. I was misinformed that you need Jessie for the touch display. Further research said you only need the latest version of Raspbian. So, in the last few minutes of the work day, I re-imaged the uSD card with the latest Wheezy and did an upd...

Re: serial port in jessie

That really doesn't help, but thanks. There is no /etc/inittab. Jessie uses systemd rather than SysV init, so all the "normal" tty handling seems to have gone away. I've had to pretty much shelve the project until I find resources on how systemd does things. Sys V init was very familiar and the BSDs...

serial port in jessie

Hi A bit of background. I've been doing Unix since Vaxes and Linux since SLS came on floppies. I do industrial automation. I have been using Pi as go betweens between automation gear and corporate IT. When I heard about the new touch screen, I had an application in mind immediately and ordered one. ...

Re: Need a Modbus RTU slave in python

To me, and admittedly Python is a new language for me, I don't see any way to write to the datastore from another thread/process. I would probably use shared memory in C, but such low level nastiness is frowned upon in Python. And to build what I have to do into the slave so I could use deques or gl...

Re: Need a Modbus RTU slave in python

Normally, I would use a library or write enough code to support a few function codes for this particular need and go on. But, since I am working on a building block I may use in several places, I'd like a reasonably complete, somewhat robust, slave implementation and it's a long ways there for a sin...

Re: Need a Modbus RTU slave in python

Well actually, I do need a slave because as you correctly mention there can only be one master in the usual case. I have control of the master as well and the way it is done is to have the master read the values you need from one or more slaves and write them to the slave I want to add. And I am qui...

Need a Modbus RTU slave in python

I have been beating my head against the wall and wearing out Google trying not to write a Modbus slave from scratch. There are several Master programs and I've got a couple running, But I want to get a few parameters from an existing network that already has a Master. And it seems very few have had ...

You are communicating with TCP which ensures error free transfer. That's sort of the point.

Re: raspistillyuv missing?

I did find a raspiyuv (docs say raspistillyuv) but it doesn't recognize the -rgb option. I'm doing machine vision and an rgb888 file would be much easier to work on. I suppose I'll have to track down the source and hack as necessary. I need to look and see if things can be sped up anyway. 5Mp is kin...

raspistillyuv missing?

grabbed the latest raspian image and the camera docs to go with my new camera. All is well except I can't run raspistillyuv. Am I missing something? Can I apt-get raspistillyuv?
