Re: Is the new Raspberry Pi 4 capable to play H.264 4K or only to play H.264 1080P?

Correct.

This is with buster, fully update/upgraded , on pi3+.

For ref 256MB GPU allocation, not that even starts the encode process so doesn't start consuming resources to see if that's an issue. And of course it worked at 192MB (or less) split on stretch

Re: Is the new Raspberry Pi 4 capable to play H.264 4K or only to play H.264 1080P?

Is there a plan to update omxplayer or other to handle 4k/HEVC? No. The HW for hevc works completely differently than the other codecs. There are other plans though, will investigate. Slight offtopic, but whilst waiting for the post to show up with the Shiny new Pi4 .. I have prepping a buster imag...

Re: How to bypass the crypto chip in my raspberry pi camera (v2)

I have a similar request, or perhaps something more like having a custom run of the v2.1 boards where the sensor module is properly flat mounted on the board. The current mount method is very variable, and leads to other lens not being able to be used easily. Then there is the next item of a custom ...

Re: Asus Tinker board

Please keep Tinker board tech help to anywhere but here...I'll delete tech request/information posts as not Pi relevant. I agree HOWEVER - as its in the "offtopic" forum, I will put in updates about items that are relevant to Pi fans if thats ok? I have a whole bunch of Pi, from the 256MB 1st gen B...

Re: Asus Tinker board

Guessing that the initial sale was the first batch, and that any pull is possibly a result of unavailability until the next batch, but my main suspicion is that it needs the KEY feature enabling with driver / software, which is 4K playback. New image available now, so will try that and see how it go...

Have one now. One weird thing I noticed right away, is it does NOT support 1080i of an old TV I had kicking around. so SSH-fu it was to do initial testing on. BTW, if you install tightvncserver (or other) you will need "sudo apt-get install xfonts-base" to get it to work. now to test with a 4k scre...

Re: Maximum DC input voltage for power?

a little late to this thread, but this is what PoE (along with the bastard relation of 24v DC) was made for.

A TP-Link PoE that drops out a clean regulated 5V-2A is like $13 from amazon.

its more than possible, the only "hard part" is actually keeping it frame accurate for the 5 second go back? http://picamera.readthedocs.io/en/release-1.12/recipes2.html#splitting-to-from-a-circular-stream gives some good info. message back if you want a more detailed way of doing it than that. Re: RPi3 cluster. dont want no stinkin cables, PCIe power?

Well one option is a bench 5V supply. You can go a ghetto cheap as you want with things like this link (bear in mind the ripple might not be smooth enough or they just plain lie on the specs) http://www.aliexpress.com/item/output-5v-40A-200W-design-for-led-module-input-voltage-AC-110-240V-47-63hz-le...

More than willing to test out various things against test charts and controlled lighting / movements to dial in any settings. My ideal would be th...

Can we have a yes/no answer on if > 49FPS at 720p? i.e. will 720p50 / 720p60 be real options this time? Simple yes, 720P60 has been confirmed on IMX219 from the sensor, through the ISP, and H264 codec. great!! The old module was also marketed as 720p60, and as far as I know we have never been able ...

The old module was also marketed as 720p60, and as far as I know we have never been able to get 60fps, or as good quality on that as the 41fps (cropped 960p) or lower mode.

camera v2 high FPS / short clip option??

If the MPEG4 encoder block can "only" take 50% of the 960x540x240 rate .... then could the GPU be assigned enough memory for burst captures for a buffer? if thats 150MB/sec uncompressed at the 10bit setting, have say a 512MB buffer, and thats towards 6 seconds of capture if the encoder is emptying f...

CSI lanes? Is there anyway to expose the extra lanes.... or have these already been on in the Pi3? Not enough pins on the connectors? CSI lanes? Is there anyway to expose the extra lanes.... or have these already been on in the Pi3? Thinking of the replacement camera module, and higher FPS feeds to feed the now faster VC4. specifically looking at 720p60 (really really this time) 720p120 and maybe like 1080p50 or 1080p60. or even t...

I would be happy when a distributor could have a predictable supply that they could they could speak about.

I am happy to order 500 pi zeros right now, (with multiple to follow) for a use case we where otherwise looking at a CM for.

Re: extending max frame rate

720P60 is a killer need for those of us in NTSC / 60Hz land! I think people would be totally cool with a working 720P60 version even if it was a 1x1 crop (I know I would) The other item, which is the same for PAL / 50HZ land, is 50Hz is also a nice to have for any one of easy math and video playback...
