Re: HD Video+Audio over network

What have you tried? Which Pi are you using? What software? I can't find anything on the C170 for ffmpeg (which is what I'd go to first) but that doesn't mean it won't work. Does it show up as an ALSA device. I think these some instructions here: http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/19705/...

Re: HD Video+Audio over network

I am actually still at it. The big step forward recently is the new Pi 2 which can handle (quite easily) muxing the video and audio using ffmpeg. In fact, the one device can also be the web+streaming server to distribute the stream to clients. The trouble I'm having now is getting the audio and vide...

Re: ffmpeg native build - my experience

Nevermind, I think I got it :)

Change the ./compile line in my script to this:

Code: Select all

./configure --prefix="$HOME/ffmpeg_build"
It didn't say anything like "done" but it certainly hasn't said anything like "error"! Onward with the rest...

Re: ffmpeg native build - my experience

Hi, I'm trying to compile ffmpeg on my Pi 2. I'm stuck at the first hurdle with faac though. I've done this before on the Pi 1 so I know the edit of mpeg4ip.h. Here is the script I'm using to compile: cd ~/ffmpeg_sources curl -#LO http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/faac/faac-src/faac-1.28/faac...

Re: Debugging Dead SD card

GParted failed. The last few lines of the log are: Inode 941 has an invalid extent (logical block 128, invalid physical block 34359812736, len 1) Clear? yes Inode 941, i_blocks is 1032, should be 0. Fix? yes Error storing directory block information (inode=942, block=0, num=191738825): Memory alloca...

Re: Debugging Dead SD card

Ok, that ran and finished with the following lines, which I think means it had a problem: Block #5 (30060) causes symlink to be too big. CLEARED. Illegal block #7 (16777216) in inode 9017. CLEARED. Illegal block #9 (16777216) in inode 9017. CLEARED. Block #10 (8) causes symlink to be too big. CLEARE...

Re: Debugging Dead SD card

Managed to get fsck working. Don't know what I was doing wrong so far. Ran it on the boot part first then on the main part. The main one was taking ages so I left it while I went out. Now I return, typically, it had an issue, so I've set it going again as it instructed: [email protected]:~$ fsck --help ...

Re: Debugging Dead SD card

Since my IP cameras are only doing the one job, they're coping well with 4GB (when I remember to expand the file system!). I've got an 8GB in the wings if needs be.

How do I run fsck on the SD card? I've tried "fsck /dev/mmcblk0p2". I can't mount either of the partitions.

Re: Debugging Dead SD card

My mistake. After leaving it going for about 10min (that's odd right?) GParted has finally found it and displayed it's partitions. See the attachment for partition table. It's clear I forgot to expand the file system, given 1.67GB is unallocated. However, that shouldn't cause a failure by itself, ri...

Re: Debugging Dead SD card

Interesting... On ubuntu 12.04: If I try to start GParted with the SD card in, it just scans for devices eternally. If I remove the SD card, then start GParted, it runs fine. If I then put the SD card in and ask it to scan for new devices, it scans forever again. No partitions of the SD card are sho...

Re: Debugging Dead SD card

Shouldn't be much (any) writing going on. All it's doing is streaming the Pi-Cam. Something like: raspivid -o - -t 0 -fps 25 -w 1280 -h 720 -g 5 -b 10000000 -awb off | cvlc stream:///dev/stdin --sout '#rtp{sdp=rtsp://:8554/}' :demux=h264 I wouldn't expect there to be any disk use in that at all real...

Debugging Dead SD card

Hi there, I've got several Pi's working as IP cameras, they're excellent. However, one of them suddenly stopped working. After swapping the SD card, all was well. I popped the suspect card into my "bench" pi to see what's what. The Power LED comes on, there's one flash from the green ACT LED, then n...

Re: VLC Camera Streaming with cron job

Well, feeling quite stupid now. It's because cron was running it as root. I'd read that before, but decided it couldn't be it because examples on the internet didn't seem to need to be accounting for that, like the one I linked to. ...Except that one was. It used "crontab -e", I was using "sudo cron...

VLC Camera Streaming with cron job

Hi, TL,DR: I cannot get VLC to run from a cron job in any way. If someone else can, could they tell me how so I can try please! :) I'm quite new to Linux + Pi so having worn out hits on Google, I'm stuck for what to do. I'm trying to get my Pi to run a bash script at boot using a cron job. The scrip...

Sounds like you've got the same problem I would have, though I had to Google much of what you said! I've done some Googling... Would this help? http://superuser.com/questions/429643/how-can-i-multiplex-a-video-and-audio-stream Seems like it'll do what we want but as a noob at Linux, I don't r...

HD Video+Audio over network

Hi there, New to Pi but not programming in general. I'm planning a project and want to have a working concept before I purchase stuff. As the title says, I want to put HD video+audio over a network. I'd probably have multiple RPi's + Camera's connected to a big wired network then a single RPi runnin...
