Re: DHCP & TFTP

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

I will not user TFTP as you have explained. Thanks.

The idea of the LEDs was just as a visual confirmation that files are moving around....

Is there no way of doing this?

OMXPlayer Chapter Help

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with a question regarding OMXPlayer and Chapters in an mp4 file. Basically, my question is... Is it possible to tell OMXPlayer only to play "chapter1" and keep repeating it until told to play "chapter2" Background: At the moment I have 2 separate .mp4 file...

Re: Can this be done?

Yes, I see what you are saying... very true...maybe the Kinect is the way to go on this project...

I wonder if http://openkinect.org/wiki/Main_Page is mature enough to use yet though....

Although, as you say, the pi might not have enough grunt to do it....?

Can this be done?

I have been asked to look at creating a solution for someone using a raspberry pi and I was hoping for some advice... Is it possible, using whatever hardware add-ons, to 1. measure distance, as in how far away a person is. 2. measure height, as in how tall a person is. 3. measure speed, as in how fa...

Re: Temperature Sensing

They are repeatable to a 16th of a degree C but their individual accuracy is to half a degree. You could compare them with a super accurate reference thermometer and allow for it in your code if you actually needed dead accurate to 0.1 degrees. Brilliant! When you say "repeatable" does that mean us...

Temperature Sensing

Hello,

I am looking at doing a small project for someone.

They have asked for a temperature sensing/recording system that is accurate to +/-0.1C

Does anyone know if this is possible please?

Thanks

Brilliant!

I thought I had tried every key combination possible....

ctrl-break (break as in the break button) worked.

seems obvious now

LXDE Keyboard for "Desktop"

Hi there, hoping this is a simple one. I have configured some software to run omxplayer at startup full screen inside LXDE as instructed by the manual. But, I cannot seem to be able to break into the software and get back to the LXDE desktop. The software says it should stop when I press "CONTROL BR...

the only reason i hacked your script was because i was getting this: 79.23 PiPresents Button Pressed: shutdown Exception in Tkinter callback Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/lib/python2.7/lib-tk/Tkinter.py", line 1437, in __call__ return self.func(*args) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/lib-tk/...

Re: Controlling OXMPlayer from Python Script

Hi Ken,

I've hacked pipresents.py and added call(['sudo', 'shutdown', '-h', '-P', '-t 5','now']) at line 327.

It appears to have the desired effect.

Is this ok?

Boot to Root and Run a Script?

Hi, I have been trying to work out how to 1. Stop my pi booting into LXDE. 2. Boot to a command prompt as root. 3. Run a python script. I have fallen at the first hurdle. I found a posting that says run "sudo raspi-config" and in there is an option to configure whether the pi boots to LXDE - ...

Re: Controlling OXMPlayer from Python Script

Hi Ken, Me again :) I was hoping to plug in a momentary switch to shutdown the pi. I've wired it all up and can see the button being detected in debug but the pi wasn't shutting down. Then I notice in the manual.pdf on page 38 it says "shutdown - not implemented" :( So that functionality is not avai...

Ken,

You are absolutely spot on.

Updated the gpio.cfg as you correctly spotted and it works like a dream.

I cannot thank you enough for your patience.

I owe you a pint :) (at least)

Re: Controlling OXMPlayer from Python Script

I have to wave my hands around for ages before i see the PIR being detected in debug. I have tested the PIR using a simple detection test scrip...

Controlling OXMPlayer from Python Script

Hello, I am planning to write a python script that plays video1.mp4 when a PIR detects no motion and then plays video2.mp4 when it does detect motion. I have found a script that shows me how to detect motion using the PIR here: http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2013/01/cheap-pir-sensors-and-the-raspb...
