Re: Tip for command line / terminal use

Been looking for a list of terminal tips, a friend once showed me a tip to list the previous used commands, but I can’t remember it! Any ideas?

Reading a 7 segment display? Swimming pool.

Not found anything on web about being able to read the value of a 7 segment display, plenty of displaying digits. So I have 2 LEDs displays, they show the amount of chlorine in a swimming pool and the acidity of the water. They are completely separate displays from different manufacturers. I’d like ...

Re: Problems counting

Thanks paeryn, this isn't what is happening though, I watched as the flashes, which were separated by seconds, triggered a count twice without incrementing. Maybe I need to increase the denounce time? But then again surely it can't be 200 ms between interupts so it's as if the devoince isn't working...

Re: Problems counting

Thanks andyroo, will look into that, but is suspect what paeryn says is right, the pic is detecting more than one rising edge when I fact there is only one, so how can I ensure only one is counted? Maybe if I stipulate that a count only happens if the time between triggers is more than .5 of a secon...

Not sure why count is in while, I will remove it see what happens.

Problems counting

Hi, I am having issues with this Python script. It detects flashes of an electricity meter and counts how many in a minute before uploading the data to emoncms. The problem I am having is that the integer isn't counting as expected. I.e. 123456.. #!/usr/bin/env python2.7 # http://raspi.tv/?p=6791 im...

The code still works well for me too. Although I recently had to re install due to sd card issues! Next I need to fit the rpi with a UPS for safe shut downs!

Re: GPIO electrical interference false positive on toggle bu

I have a similar project, it watches the flash of the electricity meter's 100wh LED. It is for my solar installation. During the day it counts the flashes every minute and uploads the data to emoncms. The problem is at night, when the sun is down and the inverter is actually using a small about of e...

Ok thanks, that has stopped the warning.

Will count without the global in the while loop still read the global count though?

But count is being written to in the While loop, so I thought I had to declare it global?

Re: GPIO : fail to detect rising and falling egde

Looking at your code, you are not looking for falling edge, just if the led is lit ie pin 18 is high on on?

Re: GPIO : fail to detect rising and falling egde

Thanks for that, I will order one of those see if it works better than my ldr with transited. Something isn't right, even though it worked on the bench it isn't detecting flashes on the meter in the program. I am using sugru to attach it to the meter, like bluetac but goes hard. I am wondering if th...

Re: GPIO : fail to detect rising and falling egde

Rds, can you post your code for that? I am using an ldr with 2n2369. Are you uploading to emoncms? I am also using it on a solar array meter (5kw) but want one also on my house meter to log power being pulled from the grid. Once I am happy with the solar one I will make another for the other meter. ...
