Thank you, that did the trick! It's now booting up and shows a serial interface. I am now getting another error
unable to initialize libusb: -99
when doing lsusb, but everything else works. I'll try to figure it out.
Thanks again!

Re: HOWTO: Enable USB device mode on Pi Zero
Would you mind posting the resulting kernel.img (the one with no modules)? I've followed the instructions but I can't get the image to boot, all it says on the serial console is "Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel." and stops there. I've used your configuration with no changes...

Re: Meet Raspberry Pi Zero: the $5 computer
Does anyone know if the USB OTG port can be used to power the Pi Zero as well? I plan to use it in client mode (as a slave to another host device over USB) - but I want to use a single cable, power it on the same connection from the host - so do I _have_ to use the second microUSB port or can the OT...

Re: Satellite comms kit - Iridium + Globalstart + Thuraya
Hi Frank,
Could you send me an email at razvan (dot) dragomirescu (at) gmail (dot) com please? I'm not sure if this forum supports private messages. A Thuraya Module + low cost SDK would be EUR 280, shipping cost depends on destination. Do you need any of the antennas?
Thank you,
Razvan

Re: Satellite comms kit - Iridium + Globalstart + Thuraya
I tried to find a link for the 82SM but I think it's no longer in production and they've removed the links from their website. You can't just connect the serial port of the Raspberry Pi to the SM2500, it has control signals you need to use (SAT_ON for instance to turn it on). It also needs two power...

Re: Satellite comms kit - Iridium + Globalstart + Thuraya
Ok people, I'm off to my vacation on Thursday (July 3rd). If I receive no bids by that time, I'll leave the thread open but note that if you're interested you will have to wait until I return mid-August. If you want some (or all) of it and want to play with it before September 1st, please state your...

Re: Satellite comms kit - Iridium + Globalstart + Thuraya
BTW, I just checked the offer I have received from Antcom a few years ago for a Thuraya antenna (I think it might be very similar to the one you plan to use, it's model 5G1216RL-PP-NSS-1,). It costs $645/unit!

Re: Satellite comms kit - Iridium + Globalstart + Thuraya
No, sorry, I'm not looking to buy any additional equipment, I guess you can get it from Antcom themselves. I only have the equipment listed above, nothing else. If you need any of it, let me know. I would suggest you prototype your idea first using a cheaper antenna and try it out on your aircraft (...

Re: Satellite comms kit - Iridium + Globalstart + Thuraya
The SM82 does not contain the Thuraya Module, it has a slot inside for the module. I can preinstall the module inside, but you have to buy them both unless you have a Thuraya Module of your own to put inside. The slot is similar to the one you see on the low-cost dev kit.

Re: Satellite comms kit - Iridium + Globalstart + Thuraya
I can help with the setup, yes. Some of the documents (most of those from Thuraya) are covered by an NDA, but all you have to do is email them and ask, they will probably put you under NDA as well and send them to you. The documents have also been leaked onto the Internet at various locations. For t...

Satellite comms kit - Iridium + Globalstart + Thuraya
Hello everyone, Over the years I've experimented with a bunch of satellite communication technologies but I've recently shifted focus to other things (Bitcoin payment systems :) ), so I'm selling my satellite comms gear if anyone wants to experiment with their Raspberry Pi in isolated/remote areas o...
