Re: Using R with the Pi

Hey Doug, I am very happy to find someone with the same idea as me. I have a little project in mind using R and raspbian. Roughly, what I want to do is the following: - R on raspbian runs a script automatically every saturday night and compiles a PDF report about the output (weekly data) and uploads...

Re: X11 forwarding and XBMC

for enabling X11 forwarding you have to activate in:

sudo nano /etc/ssh/sshd_config

X11 forwarding yes

then Xming will display the screen on your remote computer after starting the session with "startlxde"

Re: X11 forwarding and XBMC

I tried again to scan the item into the library and thanks to topguys links, I finally managed to do exactly what I was looking for. So here is a brief summary of what I do: - install Raspbian - install XBMC ( http://michael.gorven.za.net/raspberrypi/xbmc ) and set to autostart ("sudo nano /etc/defa...

Re: X11 forwarding and XBMC

Yes, I have HTTP enabled and I can access the web interface through AWXi if that is what you mean. And I can also browse through the elements whic are already in the database and I can also update/refresh the existing database. Just what I cannot do is to scan a new folder into the library . --> add...

Re: X11 forwarding and XBMC

Hi topguy, thanks again for your suggestions, they are very appreciated and bring me closer to my desired system. The AWXi looks very promising and I can have easily some control over my music library (refresh library etc.). I also managed to add new sources to the XBMC via /home/pi/.xbmc/userdata/s...

Re: X11 forwarding and XBMC

I have tested MPD and MPdroid on my system but I have to say that I am not satisfied with it. It runs, but I ran into several problems concerning internet radio streams and the music database which give me the impression that a lot of work and time is needed to have this system running in a user-fri...

Re: X11 forwarding and XBMC

Ah, ok, I see... for me the only use for the XMBC is to use it for my music, I dont have a TV so I dont need it for any video purposes. For more background information: I like to listen to international webradios, so I went to the shop to buy a physical webradio as I dont want to turn on my laptop e...

Re: X11 forwarding and XBMC

Thanks a lot for the answer....I was somehow afraid of a reply like that. I tried VNC, but no result either. Ok, so maybe I took the wrong direction straight from the beginning. How about configuring the XMBC in the console? Is there a command line version of it? I dont need any crazy stuff, just th...

X11 forwarding and XBMC

Hi all, I am very fond of the raspberry pi and raspbian. Everything works exactly the way I want it...beside one thing which would really help me reach my goal of a monitor-free-system. I want to communicate with my raspbian only via my laptop. I managed to get X11 forwarding working, so I can see t...
