I actually made it using uv4l uvc driver. The maximum resolution that can stand the zero is 320x240 30fps. It makes the CPU goes to 50%. 640x480 is too high.
use webrtc with h264 turned on a to make make use of the hardware encoder of the rpi to save some cpu %.

Re: Viewing Video on Separate Laptop

I have a video stored on my raspberry pi. Is there a way I can view said video on another laptop without transferring the file? The raspidisp driver of UV4L can do that with minimal latency as shown in this demo: https://youtu.be/wthS8TPk2DE it can capture audio too. Installation instructions: http...

The raspidisp driver of UV4L allows you to capture HMDI-out by creating a video4linux2 input device:

Re: Advice - local telepresence to internet - best latency

UV4L is being used in many telepresence projects. It also supports bidirectional webrtc data channels which could be used to write/read the GPIOs from the browser. More informations at https://linux-projects.org.

Re: HDMI to CSI-2 via TC358743 on RPI3b+ error

To generate an edid file use something like

Code: Select all

sudo get-edid | xxd -p > edid.txt
get-edid can be installed with the read-edid package

I suggest that you test with the 3B first before moving on to the 3B+

set the verbosity=8 in the config file to produce more logging

Re: HDMI to CSI-2 via TC358743 on RPI3b+ error

The communication over I2C looks fine. If no signal is detected, check that your source is active. You might be required to pass a proper EDID to UV4L with the option: --tc358743-edid-file arg read edid from given file in hex format (you can add it to the config file). There is a command to produce ...

Re: Native WebRTC extension for UV4L now ready!

Is there some documentation of the web socket commands? Re: Auvidea B101

To make the B101 work with UV4L on the Pi Zero is rather simple provided that:: 1. you follow the instructions here *carefully* (which refer to the Rpi3): https://www.linux-projects.org/uv4l/installation/ 2. as opposite to what mentioned for the rpi3 in the doc., you set the: tc358743-i2c-dev = /dev...

Re: UV4L and IP camera

it seems you need to provide user and password in the --uri (see the uv4l tutorial to know how to pass them) ? check the full uri is correct by loading it e.g. in a browser and see if you can get a jpeg frame from there.

You can try to add "--verbosity=8 -f" to the command line to see what happens, and "dd if=/dev/video0 of=img.jpeg bs=1M" to try to capture a single jpg frame.

Re: Stream + Stills

With UV4L you can take Stills while the MJPEG video is in progress. The URL for the Stills tyically is:

https://<ip>:8080/stream/snapshot.jpeg?delay_s=10

where delay_s is a delay in seconds since the HTTP request is made. However, I think the resolution will be the same as the video.

I think we can also rule out WebRTC on the Pi, despite the heroic efforts of the uv4l project. It would not likely be performant.
WebRTC is easily made possible on the Pi with UV4L because UV4L implements WebRTC natively and can use hardware acceleration for both H264 decoding and encoding.
