Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I haven't directly changed pipe_autostart, but I have made other changes to the pipe module, so it is possible that the bug comes from that. It would be helpful if you could open an issue on github.com/ejurgensen/forked-daapd with a log extract where the log level is set to debug. That way I can see...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I've made a new release of the RPi build, its version number is 26.5.84.git547222e. It has: 1. Fix for CPU issue reported by @marco79 2. Support for Shairport artwork via pipe (doesn't work with web UI yet, however) 3. Configurable mp3 streaming quality 4. New JSON api for toggling speakers 5. Web U...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

@EckartH can I ask you to add an issue on my github ? Please add information about the version of ffmpeg. I hope you are also able to share one of the tracks that produces the error. @marco79 the CPU issue should be fixed in the github source repo now, and will be included in the next RPi release I ...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Unfortunately forked-daapd doesn't support artwork via pipe metadata. I'll take a look at the CPU issue and see if I can get that fixed.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

The format of the metadata pipe may not be as complicated as it could appear. You would create an xml document, and then have <item> structures for each kind of metadata (artist, album etc.). Each item consists of: type -> value doesn’t matter to forked-daapd code -> 4 byte hex that tells forked-daa...

Sounds great!

You can read about pipes here: https://ejurgensen.github.io/forked-daapd/#library

The format of the metadata is documented here: https://github.com/mikebrady/shairport- ... ata-reader

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

As much as I like Radio Paradise, I won't add stuff that is just for one radio station. I'm not that into flac format, but I'm surprised there isn't some standard way of conveying metadata that they can use. A possible other alternative: forked-daapd can already read metadata from a pipe, but curren...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I've uploaded a new release of forked-daapd to the repo, it has version 26.5.83. These are the improvements: 1. Fix issue with incorrect RTP packet resend, plus possible infinite loop 2. Some fixes to playback, especially some issues that could occur at the end of a track, or where incorrect "now pl...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Yes it is always possible that Remote pairing becomes broken via an Apple update. I can’t test myself right now, but perhaps someone else can say if it is working for them or not. Otherwise I will test it in a weeks time.

I have released a new version of forked-daapd to my repo, it is 26.5.82. It is available for Stretch and Buster. The main changes are some improvements to the web UI and some minor bug fixes.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

It would be good if you could add this issue here: https://github.com/ejurgensen/forked-daapd Even though you have provided steps to reproduce, I imagine there is a good change it won't reproduce for me. So please also attach a log with log level set to debug in the config, perhaps that will provide...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I have released a new version of forked-daapd to my repo, it is 26.5.81. This version is only available for Stretch, since Jessie is getting too old (especially Jessie's ffmpeg). There are some substantial changes since the previous version: - No more downsampling to 44100 unless the output requires...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

What is the corresponding log file for when it works using the web interface?

And are you actually serving the file (or stream?) from a web server on localhost? Since it says connection refused it would seem you aren't.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

"mpc play" should work, so I don't have an immediate answer. Please provide some more details: 1. Which version of forked-daapd (where did you install from) 2. The commands you issue 3. What the log says* in response to your commands (try setting the log level to debug in the config) * Please don't ...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Sounds like it could be a bug due to recent changes in the master branch on github. The pipe input hasn’t really been tested after those changes. It would be good if you could open an issue on it.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

The type of share should not make a difference. You can narrow the cause like this: Run "sqlite3 /var/cache/forked-daapd/songs3.db" and then "select media_kind,path from files where path like '%wdmc_audiobooks%';" (then quit with ".quit"). If this shows media_kind as 8 then forked-daapd has identifi...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Yes, I think you are the first to ask this question :-) RTSP is not a specific encoding, and forked-daapd doesn't as such support talking to rtsp servers. But what happens if you edit the m3u and change rtsp:// to http:// or https://? Can forked-daapd then play the stream? Maybe it is as simple as t...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Unfortunately Spotify has broken this feature, and as far as I know they do not currrently provide a way to support this. My own workaround has been to set up a nightly cron job that triggers an update.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I think @EckartH is on to something. Could you install the utility uni2ascii and then run "ls 14 Så Går VI Rundt Om En Enerbærbusk.m4a | uni2ascii" and then cut and paste the string from forked-daapd's log file and then run "echo "[the string]" | uni2ascii". I expect the results will be different. I...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Ok, but what is the filename + path? What the filescanner does is take the filename from the XML and then it tries to match it against the filename in your library. So I would like to know both.
