Re: Moving Linux kernel to 4.19

Hi guys did an update from kernel 4.14.xx to 4.19.66-v7+, 2 days ago using apt-update same audio stuttering as described by Chimneyfactory Mon May 20, 2019 11:59 pm post. No solutions for the sound issue yet??? Possibly this issue: https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/2983 There is a fix but...

Re: Pi4 64-bit raspbian kernel for testing - Focus on Pi4

For that I need the kernel-headers (to compile sp). As mentioned above, the "rpi-source" script does not work for the 64bit kernel. How can I generate the kernel headers manually? I'd try installing the kernel headers when running the 32-bit kernel. I don't think there will be any difference in the...

Re: Pi4 64-bit raspbian kernel for testing - Focus on Pi4

We've updated the 64-bit kernel config to match the 32-bit version. See here.
That should resolve some missing features like nf_tables and a number of missing modules like dvb, ir, audio etc

After running pi few days, something goes wrong with 64bit kernel, and all I/O operations start to timeout
Post complete dmesg log in case there are any useful clues.
Keep an eye out for anything specific that provokes it.

Re: Pi4 64-bit raspbian kernel for testing

The firmware update also seeem to succeed on my Pi3B (see above today in the thread), but the rpi-update DIDNT install the kernel8.img to /boot Sounds like you are not updating from a debian buster image. If there isn't currently a Pi4 kernel (kernel7l.img) on /boot then rpi-udate won't update Pi4 ...

I would say create an issue on Dom's repo, but it looks like issues have been disabled on it. I'll ask the question.
I've pushed an update to clarify LGPL 2.1 in headers to match ffmpeg's source code.

Re: Pi4 64-bit raspbian kernel for testing - Focus on Pi4

Better option would be Sakaki-san's Raspbian 64 https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=232417&p=1534981#p1534981 Yes, that will get you the same rpi-update kernel described in this thread and has a lot of the configuration for 64-bit debian handled for you. Recommended if you want ...

Interestingly running rpi-update in a chroot on a V7 system gets You appear to be using a custom kernel file. Skipping installation of new kernel, as bundled dtb files may be incompatible with your kernel. Do you still have "kernel=xxx" set? That is what triggers this. It shouldn't be required now.

Re: Pi4 64-bit raspbian kernel for testing - Focus on Pi4

I'd already got the revision codes. What I was trying to work out (aka remember) was which are 64-bit (kernel=kernel8.img) capable. You need BCM2837 (PI3/Pi3+) or BCM2838 (Pi4). Later models of Pi2 switched to using BCM2837, but the majority sold will be BCM2836 (so no 64-bit capability) The revisi...

Pi4 64-bit raspbian kernel for testing - Focus on Pi4

As the 64-bit kernel is getting more functional, I've decided to build it as part of rpi-update kernel to allow more users to test it under raspbian. This is for bleeding edge testers. Things may not work. Backing up, or using a fresh sdcard is a wise precaution. To get the kernel run the usual sudo...
