Raspberry Pi SD card test

I have a problem with a microSD card and Raspberry. I've set up a read-only file system and I still get occasional file system errors when I disconnect Raspi power. U use a mid range Goodram SDHC 16GB UHS 1. I have made a testing rig with a relay disconnecting Raspi's power every 3 minutes for 1 min...

Re: Camera fps with new RPI 2

I'm using h264 and and I manage to record almost without dropped frames. I thought that maybe VideoCore is clocked at higher speed or allocating more RAM for GPU will get a slightly increased performance.
Does RPi2 use gpu_freq option?

Camera fps with new RPI 2

I can't find any information on high framerate with new RPi 2.
Does the encoder work faster than in old RPi?
Now I can quite reliably get 800x600 @ 40 fps. Will it get better on new model?

Re: dropped frames

Have you done an rpi-update recently? I pushed what I thought was a firmware fix for this about 10 days ago. Sounds like I might need to double check that one. I didn't upgrade my firmware. Now it's working. However I'm getting PTS with 33 ms for the first frame. Also the MMAL_PARAMETER_SYSTEM_TIME...

Re: dropped frames

I have another question about PTS. What is the source of the clock for PTS. How can I synchronise it with system time. I tried to get zero based PTS but it doesn't seem to work. MMAL_PARAMETER_CAMERA_CONFIG_T cam_config = { { MMAL_PARAMETER_CAMERA_CONFIG, sizeof(cam_config) }, .max_stills_w = state-...

Re: dropped frames

I modified ethanol100's raspivid which counts frames. After few tests recording pts count of frames seem to match exactly what it is in the file. For testing purposes I would like to have the frame number and system time on the video. Recently added annotation feature seems to be pefect for it. Pica...

Display current system time with milisecond resolution

For my project I need to have precise synchronisation if measurments and video from camera. I uses a modified raspivid to log system time when frames are recorder. To test if this matches reality I would like to display system time on Raspberry's monitor and film it with Raspberry Camera. This way I...

Quickly check for SD Card badblocks

Hello I was wondering if there is a fast way to check a SD card for badblock I've got a Kingston class 4 card and I want to check if for badblocks. I use my laptop SD Card reader and a command badblocks sudo badblocks -nsv /dev/mmcblk0 but it take ages, 40% takes 2,5 hours. I figure that badblocks u...

Cameras form Aliexpress

Hello I found Raspberry Camera clones on Aliexpress the main advantage is that they already have M12 or CS lens mount attached. Does anyone bougt one of those cameras? The sensor is the same so they should work just like the original? http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=raspberry+pi+camer...

Re: Piracast (Miracast on Pi) Beta Release

Is there a possibility to have a reverse miracast so that screen form Raspi would be transmitted to the miracast enabled TV or to Chormecast?

hub-ctl and raspi hub-lan chip

Hello. I recently discovered that most USB hub chips support switching off power to a particular port. However there are only rare examples of active/powered hubs that have those switches populated on the circuit boards. There is program called hub-ctrl that can tell the hub to switch power. http://...

I think making miracast on Raspi i not possible at least the part with the encryption. It's like with DVDs ant other closed formats. But maybe we just have to wait for next DVDJohn ;-).

Try lowering the resolution as much as possible like 160x120 and see if it works.

Re: USB Port Current Boost (solved)

In my case a extender ~1,5m cable did the job. I also added capacitors(on electrolytic and two smaller caramic directly to usb port) but it wasn't enough.

Re: miracast / airplay / bluetooth streamer

From what I read at wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miracast
I think that Miracast does not work over IP network it has to be directly connected over WiFi so Raspi would need at least a supported WiFi dongle.

Re: Adafruit DHT temp/humid sensor

Does your code in ./dht22 run just once? I remember that when there is only one call in the program it almost always fails but when I put a while loop in the main function I got success ~80% of the time. Not sure why but I suspected some scheduling issues. Put a while loop and read the sensor until ...

I can't even get gparted to clear the partitions when I plug the card I get a lot of kernel errors and no /dev/mmcblk. Kingston claims it ha a lifetime warranty for SD cards so I should get a new one.

Re: SD card end of life?

I have a SD Card problem again. This time it's with Kingston 8 GB class4. It died suddenly(cant even format) I wonder if maybe Raspi is killing them ;-) But I don't do any extensive writes I used it locationally with Xbian. Maybe it's just bad luck. I have another Toshiba class 10 card and this one ...

Re: Simple PIR project - Can it be done by a Newbie?

To make the PIR simpler you could use some dedicated IC. The cheapest way is probably to buy one of those battery powered LED lamps with motion sensor and then use the output from LEDs to go to Raspi.

Then the programming bit should be easy.

[Solved]Re: console autologin error

I managed to fix the problem. I think that the filesystem got corrupted and some files had garbage in them.
i.e. /etc/default/local
I uninstalled locales package and deleted some problematic files and after installing it again it's back to normal.
