Re: Simple user time based access system ...

Hi ghans, thanks, that's both wonderful links which I think are exactly the things I'm looking for. And yes, plugging those things together I'd refer to as coding, too, but that doesn't mean I'm a programmer. :D I have learned the basics of programming in school with Pascal and I'm skripting with Ap...

Simple user time based access system ...

Hi guys, I'm looking for a quick and dirty way to achieve the following TV access system and would like to be pointed in a direction where a lot of this is already implemented, because I'm quite good in copy&paste but not at all a programmer-type and wouldn't even know which language or whatever typ...

Re: TV/Screen Time Manager ...

Hi, well, the controlling of the device I don't have a problem with, since it would be easy to connect a relays to a GPIO-port and just kill the power of the devices through that. My question went more in the direction of a working time management solution which triggers all that by web interface. I...

TV/Screen Time Manager ...

Hi there, I'm looking for the easiest way to restrict access to a TV-screen (connected to a receiver as well as bluray and media player) by some sort of account system, which can be accessed via a web browser, and if the user has time left, he/she can activate the screen (possibly via a gpio-trigger...

Re: vertical artifacts in low light condition video ...

Dear James, haven't had the time to tinker with the cam for a while now. Today I thought I'd take the time and do an update and upgrade to get the latest camera code, hoping that some of our input got implemented. Sadly the picture looks as striped as last July. So, this is another try to have imple...

Re: colour denoise and temporal denoise settings

I second this notion. Please provide a possibility to skip the denoise-parts of the code. I'd love to just record what comes out of the sensor, without any heavy denoising which is much easier to do in post, anyways. Also, it would be lovely to switch off level gaining, so that if there's low light,...

Re: vertical artifacts in low light condition video ...

Hi James, well, still my goal is to build a pi-camera which produces very high picture quality, also in low light condition, which gives out 1080p25 to the HDMI-output, so I can record this into a high quality, 10Bit Codec, for example ProRes422 HQ, with a dedicated HDMI-recorder, so I have a lot of...

Re: vertical artifacts in low light condition video ...

Yes,

an undebayered RAW would be perfect!
I can take care of the processing in post and keep control over everything.
A RAW-videomode, in my case, preview display, which I can record over HDMI, would be perfect!

Cheers,

M

Re: vertical artifacts in low light condition video ...

Hi, ok, didn't have time to fiddle with the cam for two months. Was there a major update to the camera-tuning settings while I was away? Possibly addressing the vertical artifacts? If not, would it be possible to just write a RAW video stream in cropped mode to the screen? So, basically without all ...

Re: Setting up HDMI output

Hi, well, how to start? If you don't see anything on the screen when connected to the Pi, it seems to not find a compatible mode for the screen. So, what you need to do is to edit the config.txt. You could either do that by logging into the Pi via SSH, or you can just take out the SD-card and put it...

Re: vertical artifacts in low light condition video ...

Hi James,

thanks for the info. I did the update just now, so most recent version.
Is it possible to preview the RAW im 1080p25 to the screen?
Because that would be awesome!

Cheers,

Re: vertical artifacts in low light condition video ...

Hi James, I did apt-get update and apt-get upgrade, but the artifacts persist with two different cameras and two different pies. Just for your reference, here's the mode I'm starting raspivid with: raspivid -t -1 -fps 25 -f -mm matrix -awb auto -sh -100 and this I record via the HDMI-out, presently ...

Re: vertical artifacts in low light condition video ...

Hi there, here's a quick still of the artifacts I'm seeing. Remember, this is recorded over the hdmi-out full screen preview in 25fps. http://s2.postimg.org/o3pkuutv9/artifactspi_Cam.jpg I'm updating the pi, now, to the latest version and will have a look if the problem is still there. Cheers, M

Re: vertical artifacts in low light condition video ...

Hi all, thanks for that first feedbacks. I'll be able to post samples for the vertical lines on the weekend. Regarding the noise reduction. Would it theoretically be possible to provide a switch to turn it off, since when planning to do it in post we do have a lot more control over that? Cheers, Mat...

extension cable between sensor and PCB …

Hi there, this is probably a question for Gert. If the goal is to design a flex cable to extend the little 24pin connector on the PCB that connects to the sensor itself: 1. would it need all the 24 pins (and if not which ones) 2. from the needed pins, since there are some high frequency data lanes, ...

Hi there, ok, my two cameras arrived and I'm absolutely stunned by the image quality of the video capture when the sun is shining. Re: Setting up HDMI output

Hi there, I'm trying to connect an Atomos Ninja as HDMI-output device. I was not able to get a picture, even though the edid-extraction showed, that it was supporting a lot of modes: edidparser /home/pi/ninja.edid Enabling fuzzy format match... boot in composite mode and switch to hdmi later possible?

Hi all,

I tried disabling hdmi in config.txt (hdmi_ignore_hotplug=1) which worked and booted the pi in composite-mode.

What I couldn't do after that is switch to hdmi mode, which I thought would be able with:

Code: Select all

tvservice -p
Should this work? Or is it not designed for that?

Thanks,

M

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

Hi, I don't want to get rid of the PCB. I just need it somewhere else than the camera because it's too big! :D So, yeah, I would try to attach a cable to two very small boards like the one holding the sensor side connector just big enough for holding the connectors. So I'd end up having an extension...

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

Ahh, ok.
Shame. Can you take a picture of both sides so that I'd be able to find it matching the pictures?
Or Gert, since you did the design, is this a standard part which I can just order somewhere?

Thanks,

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

Hi, first off: I would like to know because still I'd like to detach the sensor from the PCB (as soon as I get my PiCam) and connect them via a cable which needs to be between 30cm and 50cm long. No chinese chop shop, just a very special need. I know it's not designed for that but I'm willing to try...

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

Hi everyone,

back to the small SMT connector connecting the sensor and the PCB. Does anyone have a picture of it unplugged in a quality so I could find the right connector for it somewhere? Or does anyone know which type of connector that is?

Thanks,

Thanks for those replies, Alex, I will contact you directly.
And I will ask for cable in the cable thread. That seems appropriate!

Thanks to everyone for the help and pointing me in the right directions.

Re: Alternatives or replacements for camera flex cable?

Hi all, it's certainly interesting and a cool setup to be able to use 4m cables to connect the camera board to the Pi, BUT I would love to separate the camera itself from the camera board (which will be connected regularly to the Pi) and am looking into a possibility of getting about 0.5m of cable b...

Re: Camera Module Possibilities ...

Hi, that's good news. So native 25fps is perfect. Back to the cable question. I found one thread which links to this cable http://uk.farnell.com/jsp/search/productdetail.jsp?id=1908499&Ntt=1908499 . But this more looks like the cable which goes from the camera-board to the Pi. To really check again ...
