Ok, I've got it working. Thanks for your help! "cat /var/lib/dhcp/dhclient.leases" will show connected devices. As for it not sharing internet just make sure you follow the tutorial correctly, especially enabling forwarding and setting up the firewall correctly. And try ping google from the routing device.
